I think if it were a fuse then the fan would never come on. This has been described by the owner as an intermitent problem. If it is the thermoswitch, you can test it with an ohm meter. It should be "open" at lower temps, and "closed" (I do not have the specs for resistance) at higher temps. I bet you could actually sumerge the thermoswith in a pot of boiling water and then test.

Mark: Most likely a fuse. Check the fuse box, and use a magnifying glass on the fuse to see if there is a small crack in it. Art |

Mark - the L/H fan kicks in at 190, the right fan is idle until the a/c switch is on... Suggest you replace the thermostat switch on the left fan...I did that on my 97 which had same problem and it took care of it....mine was covered under warranty so I can't give you a price, can say easy to do if you do it yourself. I have an intermittant problem with one of the radiator fans not cutting in when it should and therefore the car starting to overheat. It is however an intermittant problem that the dealer has not been able to recreate the problem. they have checked the fuses, etc. Any advice? |
