Doody,

I have the same number as Bart, 3,715, which does NOT include the 448 Barchettas.

My data comes from Ferrari but Cavallino reports the same numbers.

Bart:

What is the source of your data?

Does this include the Barchettas or not?

Does anybody know what division NA -vs- ROW was in this timeframe? 25%? 30%? 35%?

Doody.

Dave's rough guess was a good one. Last year they made the 100,000th car (I have details somewhere), so they now should be near 105,000.

That's why I say "rough" estimate.

Does anyone read any of the non forum parts of this site?

The "Model List" has the counts as listed by Cavallino and Sports Car.

Dave,

I would not trust VIN and Chassis numbers to save my life.

You can always make a rough estimate of total road car production as follows:
vin#'s 1-75000 used odd numbers only so 37,500 total. Dinos, including 308&208GT4's totaled 7699.
Since vin#75000, all numbers are included. Current production is about #132000. Total is currently about 102,200 units. Interestingly, the half way point is now late in the 89 model year.

Ken, Honda sold 2,666,000 automobiles worldwide in 2001... that's 220,000+ per month (according to their 2002 Annual Report).

My previous car was a 2000MY Honda S2000 which was purchased in August 2000. The dealers were pitching this story that "only" 5000 were to be released into America that model year. Most S2000 enthusiasts believe that at least 9200 were released to America in the model year 2000. No telling how many worldwide. And this is considered a limited production car by Honda.

I can't imagine how many Accords are built in a year.

Ford sells 750,000 F-Series trucks each year. It's the #1 selling vehicle and has been the last 25-30 years.

Just out of comparative curiosity, does anyone know how many cars a company like Honda or Ford builds a year?

The Don,

No apology necessary, I just figured it was yet another number from a source you consider reliable that contradicts all the other reliable numbers out there. After all, I'm assuming that Keith Bluemel's numbers are correct and who is to say they are.

The book "Ferrari 1947-1997 The Official Book" copyright 1997, reprinted in 1999 and 2002 lists these totals:

"Output in 1997: 3518 units - Total cars produced from 1947 to 1996: 81,091 units. Statistics do not include racing cars (F1, F2, etc.), as well as Sports, Prototype and GT competition models which are not marketed to the public."

The above book also has a table that list units by year. But it is too much to type. :-)

The book "Original Ferrari V-8" list the 348 Spyder production from 1993-95 at 1146 units.

This is part of the mystique of Ferrari.... does anybody really know how many units were made? I'm not sure even Ferarri knows.

My tally is 75,880 in total so far.

that EXCLUDES most 355's (Berlinetta & Spyder are included) and the ones that are currently still in production but INCLUDES the 399 Enzo's.

The original Ferrari V8 book has the numbers for the v6 & v8 cars. I'm not sure after that.

But,

how many are 575? 550? 360 C? 360 S? and the Enzo and when did they start and when did they stop production? All factors in guesstimating production numbers

Where would one find out how many 360 Modenas, 360 Spiders and other current Ferrari cars have been built?
