The reason the factory 308 exhaust doesn't rust is because it is also made from stainless steel, just not highly polished like a Tubi. The weak area on the factory system is the resonators. The rust out with great regularity....starting with the perforated screens inside...

How does the muffler look from the inside? Must be possible to build, or have build, a copy much cheaper using an old muffler and tubes and bends from the hardware store. I don't see the need for stainless steel as rust is almost never a problem with the 308 exhausts. Could be an interesting project! So if anybody else have tried this, and has a drawing or picture from the inside of a good sounding muffler...

This is the one I've been considering buying. But the idea of more free flowing headers and exhaust is also appealing to me. Decisions, decisions....
