Peter,

any idea why the 308 GTB wasn't named "Dino"?

I heard some story about the engineers managing to get the engine oil-tight which cleared the path for a proper Ferrarri badge....

Hehehehehe

Hey, for once Frank is right about a Dino badge and the 308 GTB! A picture of the "prototype junkyard" in the back of the factory, in Michael Dregni's book: "Inside Ferrari", shows a 308 GTB body-buck with the Dino badge indentation on the nose...

Call her "Dino" after Enzo's favorite son. After all, that is what would be on her body had the marketing department of FNA not interjected their money grubbing opinion in the mid 1970s.

Butterfly.

Beautiful, agile, unique. Majestic, desirable, exotic, and to some the unattainable!

Funny you should mention animals. I have two parrots. An African Grey and a Soloman Islands Eclectus which attacks me on occasion after which she gets 'spanked' with a spatula. (DES!)
Millie and Keelee are the names. Doesn't work for the car though.
The ex-wife's name is too spooky so I am at the mercy of the thread.

I name my cars after people or animals I know.

My black XJ is named Sebastian after my cat that I love dearly.
My blue XJ was named Alexandra after my ex (middle name) who had seductive curves, very bright, and very refined
My brown XJ is named Celine after another ex because both caused/cause me loads of problems

You might know someone with a name that fits his personality.

GOD FORBID, don't name mention the "L" word around him! :-)

I'll hold off on the 'Birdie story' DES. With your literary skill you could make a steamy novel out of it.
If I took over the Bumblebee it would have to be Ms.Bumblebee.........just doesn't sound right.
Thanks, DJ

ROTFLMAO, Alex...!

Can someone clue me in on the 'spanking the birdie' story... That might have some useful content to me... :-)

DJ, awesome car; i saw one in yellow the other day, just like it - pictures definitely don't do it justice...
Because it so resembles Magnum's car and it is yellow, how about just calling it:
Magnum P(ee), and just drop off the 'I'...? :-)
LOL, sorry, i couldn't help it...
Offer Nika some cash to rename her car 'Queen Bee', thus allowing you to name your car 'Mr. Bumblebee'...
Other than that, i'm spent on ideas, sorry... Good luck, let us know what you decide what to go with and - nice car. :-)

Big Bird

(No, not in any reference to your "Spanking the birdie" story, but the Sesame Street character)

Finally got a picture of my yellow 308 on the board.
Seeing that Nikka took 'Mr Bumblebee" for the name of her yellow car I thought I would tap the vast resources of this great site for a distinctive, visionary and possibly humorous name for my ole'78.
Please note; The black louvers on the front fenders are being repainted yellow this weekend. I'll repost when I'm done.
(Here's your chance Peter!)
Have fun guys, DJ
