I've got my amp and equalizer in the spare tire, and my sub in the footwell. That sub enclosure used to be made by Z-Box, but they are out of business. You can get one made by www.TrafficJams.com which is the company that did my installation. Ask for Ron Southworth (the owner) if you call them.

I have a subwoofer box at the passengers feet. It's one of those molded ones sold years back. Fit's great, you don't even notice it. It only hold an 8" sub, but the newer JL's are perfect.

Maybe one of the carbon fiber/fiberglass workers on the group could start making them again?

I also have a Phoenix Gold Route 66 amp to power everything. The sub will get about 200 watts and each mid and each tweeter will get 40 watts.

Just putting new speakers in the door of a Ferrari and I don't care what brand it is, is not going to keep up with the engine noise without a good subwoofer and a decent amplifier to power all the speakers. At over 100 DB. your satellite speakers will have to work hard and would probably keep up with a good amp but it will sound like without the low end being there. I believe in do it right or don't do it at all esp. when it comes to sound systems. Now we need to know if Peter is using an amplifier for his existing system or is it deck powered, if it's deck powered, don't waste time and money on high dollar speaker systems that will become trash through lack of power and distortion. Instead he'd be better off with a higher sensitivity speaker set with a high 1 watt 1 meter rating.

I think you may be able to chop (gasp) the doors and put in 6.5" speakers. Maybe someone did that already in your car.

As for speaker choice, I prefer MB Quart. I have those in my daily driver and a JL Audio 8W6. I just put an 8W6 sub in my 308 and will probably put MB Quart compenents in it next month.

Peter,
I think the stock size is 5.25, have you measured to be sure? I thought it is 5.25 right through the 328 series....

I would say that any of the name brand speakers are fine, I would recommend one that has tweeters that can be angled toward the listening position. A nice feature, since they otherwise point at your ankles... :-)

I gather, that this request may yeild mixed results. Some will say, who needs it, you just need to hear the engine! Others may say, you need (brand xxx) its the top of the line!

I'm not sure, nor could I find any material to support that Ferrari's are acousticly tuned with their sound systems..any thoughts?

Focals -- that's probably the best you can fit into the stock door panels.

Check the archives; do a search for "308 speakers" (use "AND" not "OR)

I want to replace my 6.5" door speakers in my 308. The current stereo is well over-powered for the ones I have. What would be the best speaker to replace these with?
