Here is my experience with Lake Forest Sports Car.
I brought my car in to have the shifter adjusted on my 84 308QV. They said I should have all my fluids changed and I agreed at a cost of 400.00. They called me the next day and said I should also replace my timing belts. At that point, I asked them to do a major service on it since I had just purchased it and do not have the service records. The agreed and said the cost would be 3600.00 and it would include the fluid changes. When I picked up the car, they charged me an additional 100.00 for changing the anti freeze. They said they had already changed it before I asked them to do the major service and had to drain the system again to do the service. I would think the fair thing would to just charge for the anti freeze but there was no argueing with them. I worked 8 years as an auto mechanic and as a Service Writer and Manager of an auto repair shop, so I know when I am being given a line.
Now that I am back in California, I have found quite a few problems with their work
1. two spark plug chambers are filled with oil, which means they did not install the valve cover gasket correctly
2. there is oil leaking into the distributor cap which means the seal was install incorrectly or they never changed it.
3. the spark plug extenders were not the right one for a 308. I have since learned that the red extenders are for the 328, which has built in resistors and the 308's uses the black ones, which has no resistors because the cables has the resistance. Being a dealership, they should have known this and told me about it
4. two spark plug cables had excessive resistance and was not firing on all eight. I discovered this when I had it in for the emission test and the Hc and Co was off the scale. This led me to test the cables and spark plug extenders and found the bad cables and wrong extenders.
5. there was no report on what was checked in this service. shouldnt their be a written report on my brakes, suspension parts, bushings, belts, etc.????
6. they kept my car for a month. I made an appointment and had to wait 5 weeks before bring it into them. With that, the car should have been done in a week.
So, after spending 4300.00. I am not happy with LAKE FOREST SPORTS CAR.
The only good thing about them was they were very friendly.

Very Good. It has been a few years as I have moved away. But, I've had dealings with Rick Mancuso and Greg Berner. Additionally, Jerry Corsini in service is a good guy. I would recommend this dealership.

I bought my Ferraris from them in 1996. I never went to look at the car. They sent me pictures of the car and represented the exact conditon of the car on their letterhead. I sent them a deposit and was told by them that if the car did not match their description, I could return it to them and just pay for the shipping cost. When I received the car, I had it checked out by a mechanic which declared the car perfect. I have had the car for 5 years without any problems except the ECU problem associated with all 348s. I highly recommend them based on my own experience. The sales person I dealt with was Tyler Dean.

I have not purchased any cars from them... however when looking for my Ferrari , I called and spoke to their service dept. They were very helpful , and answered some questions on maintenance and parts costs. I didn't even buy a thing and they were very accomodating.

Has anyone had any dealings with Lake Forest Sports Cars in Lake Forest, Illinois? I know they're an authorized Ferrari dealer but that's about it. I'm looking at a used F-car there and I'd appreciate hearing about anyone's purchase or service experiences with them.
