My Mondial is silver with a dark blue interior. The seats can get hot on a sunny day, so I use my tonneau a lot. The top went down last month and will stay down until December. You can always just fold the seats down for shade. It's a Ferrari. Go for what you like, not what's practical. Hardly anything about the car is practical. I think that darker leather handles age better than tan and shows fewer imperfections, but I like the red/tan combination a lot.

I love the look of Red with Black also,
But I hope you like sweat marks.

If you relocate in the North Georgia, Carolinas you'll be fine. South Georgia and Florida gets a little warmer.

I have a 944 Cabriolet, red with black interior. I live in the SF Bay Area, which is not has hot as the southeast, but it does have its hot days. The hottest weather I have driven with the top down in 105. I have not noticed that the interior is hotter than my 348ts red with tan interior when the top is off. That is not to say both interiors don't get hot, I just haven't noticed a difference. I think any color sitting in the sun gets pretty hot.

Also, if you're keeping score, I like the red tan look better than the red black, but it could be because the Ferrari is red tan!!

Thanks for the feedback thusfar.

Anyone else? I'd like to hear from the cabrio owners in the south with the black interiors. Would you do it again and pick black?

I just sold my 1999 porsche cab, red w/black int and red stitching which I loved. I live in the mountains, so heat is not an issue. I am on the wait list for a 360 spider. I was sure I would order red/black int and red piping. I just bought sight unseen a 355 spider red/tan interior. I figured since it was a temporary car, the interior was no big deal. When I picked up the car, the tan interior was fanastic. I then went to a dealer in LA and saw a black interior and I did not like it as much as the tan interior. Look at both interiors before you decide. About 15 years ago I had a black interior cab in LA and the heat was not a big deal on the seats. I think I now know why there are 10 tan interiors to one black interior (appx).

Had a car with black leather - in hot weather it could get pretty uncomfortable when you sit down... think of the 'hot' metal of a seat buckle, and then apply that to your back, bum and legs. Ouch.

When looking at convertible F-cars, I've noticed a large percentage of them with lighter (i.e. tan) interior colors. Black seems more reserved for coupes. As I compare Mondial Cabriolets, I'm drawn to the color combination of the red/black versus the red/tan. Can anyone speak to the practicality of having a black leather interior in a convertible?

I live in the Pacific NW currently but we may find ourselves relocating to the Florida/Georgia/Carolinas region down the road. Am I crazy to look at a convertible with a black interior that may be moving with us to the sunny south?? Will I burn my ka-yackas off trying to enjoy my Ferrari??

P.S. - I've had two convertibles in the past and I'm not one to pop the top up to park it for an hour. I'd prefer just to leave the top down if its not raining.

Any thoughts??
