I had this problem. The screw you mention is a funky piece as it screws into a fitting inside the door and holds the handle in place while allowing it to rotate. What happens is the threaded end of the fitting will break off. The handle is then allowed to flop around a bit. I removed the drew in the door jamb, drilled out the broken off screw and made a new part to fit. It should become more obvious what the problem is and how to fix it when you take it apart. Its not real complicated. |

I have lateral play in both door handles on my 308. In a past post regarding this, an idea was mentioned to adjust the cable below the handle (inside of the door). This sort of adjustment will not take care of the left to right 'wigle' of the handle. There is a black screw on the door jam that can not be tightened....Any ideas to correct this? Would there be a washer inside of the door that may need replacement? |
