Dr.S -I will conference with Kuzi---But I doubt it.
David-1) not supposed to lift when changing gears-the guy who wrote the Forza article hasn't a clue.
2)not a matter of behavior or mental condition-it's when you look in the mirror and see your Father's face as you remember it in the last yr's of his life THEN YOU KNOW IT'S TIME FOR A
12 CYLINDER WITH AN F1.
Matt-Thanks for the anti-Hans support.

Does not have to be too close though :-)

I feel very confident in saying if you drive a 575F1 properly, you will ALWAYS be faster than the 6 speed. People don't even bother to REALLY test this. They don't realize shift speed in the F1 varies at RPM point, throttle position, etc...

In SPORT MODE, shifting above 6k RPM, downshifting for corners...etc. It is not even close.

BTW -- Are their pix of the F1 Forza used for the test. I think I may know the owner... ;)

Marty,

At least your 360 never leaked the amount of oil Hans's dino did on it's cam belts.

Martin- Please post your comparisons against your 360 when you have had a chance to get well acquainted with your new 575. Please post pictures. Like other readers I was dissapointed with the 575 Fornza article. When I test drove the 575 F-1 at Shelton's last fall I did not lift during gear changes. It is one awnsome car. At 49 years old, what should I look for in my behavior and mental condition clueing me in on required 12 cylinders in my sports car's engine bay?

Hans-you must have been an elephant in another life! This is the 35 th time you have dissed my 360 which was suffering from an exhaust leak that dyno day.Stop it or I'll give you a time out!
Mike and Kuzi-re vanquish-still lust for it but no AM dealer for 180 miles-50 K more than 575-had an AM Vantage-and it's not a FERRARI!!!!!!

Congrats, Martin.

Will you be bringing it to the next dyno day? I've tuned up the GT4, and I'm wondering how they will compare.

Martin,

I notice in your profile you list the Vanquish as a "wanted car".

Can I ask what made you choose the 575M over the Vanquish? Similar prices, I believe....

And let us know how you like it!

Congrats. Don't remember if you have the F1 in your 360. In any event, i think it would be worthwhile to post your experiences driving the 575 after you have broken it in, and gotten a good sense of the car. enjoy.

Congratulations Martin!!

Thats exactly what I did. I went, I drove, I liked, and I bought it.......seems simple enough. The F1 I think is really a nice match for this auto. It will take some time to get the shifts down smoothly, but Its like a perfect heel and toe.......when you get it just right.......theres no better sensation!!
Martin, I also have the tubi. Sounds just right for the 575M. Without it, it sounded like a Lexus:-( I also have the 19" mods.....great look! I'm dying to see the carbon fiber interior though.........maybe I should bring mine to Cannon Beach and we park them side by side:-)

Thanks,guys.
The dealer was so excited to get my rare euro 360 that he wrote me a check at trade in.I think he was anxious to get rid of the dust laden 575.
Forza article= who gives a flying f--- what some guy writes? I drove it-I like it -I bought it.

Congrats, Martin! I can't wait to see your car at Cannon Beach.

I agree completely with Jason's assessment of the Forza article. I was screaming at the page when I got to the part that he lifted when shifting.

Martin,
Congrats on the new car. You made the right choice with the F1. I keep in contacet with numerous Ferrari dealers around the country. Everyone of them said the F1 is the perfect match for the 575. And all of them told me they would order the car with the F1 if it were their own car. Enjoy.

I saw the car last Wed and it is stunning. Has the 19" modular wheels too. Had a big sign in the window..."Please Do No Touch, sold to Dr. Weiner" I was surprised they put his name in the window.

Also, Jonas I don't think he got a straigh even trade...he traded in his 360 and then wrote a big check!

Dr.:
>> Have you read the latest Forza magazine saying that the article concluded 6 speed is better than F1 on 575M??<<

Why not just say... "gee... why'd you get that if you COULD have got THIS..." C'mon Doc, bursting bubbles so soon?

Jason:
I'm with you. Every review I've read of the 575M F1 system has, charismatically, descibed it as the BEST F1 system to date; fluid to the degree of an AM vanquish.

Dr. Shelbee
I just read the 575 article you are talking about....I thought it was very poor...I actually get annoyed when journalists make huge generalisations which are based on ignorance. It was pretty obvious that he was a novice at driving an F1 transmission (lifting the foot whilst changing gear made that abundantly clear).
These journalists seem to think that because the clutch peddle is missing, driving the car must simply be a matter of paddle flicking. There are a lot more nuances to driving an F1 well than that (all of which have a significant impact on the quality of shift.) It's like asking someone whose only ever driven an automatic to review a stick shift car.....Their opinion really wouldn't count for much!!!

MARTY CONGRATS....NOW WILL YOU ORDER THE 250 FRONT GRILL!!! :-)

Marty,

What the hell is going on? Are you getting up there in age that you have to settle for a "cruiser"? Tell Faye to start looking out for the "retirement homes" :-)

BTW, Santa Barbara is blue sky and 85 degrees!

Is the Cannon Beach drive this weekend? I will be out of town, and the 365 probably won't be back from it's winter maintenance anyway.

Hi Don, I will be driving down to Cannon Beach.

Not sure at this time which one I will drive. I love my cars both equally, and truly.

I will see toward the end of the week.

My friend Kuzi has both as well, 02 360 spyder and 03 575M. He drove both cars this past weekend.

I will see you then??

I will see you at Cannon Beach Marty. We had a drive with Kuzi with his 03's black/black 575M F1 this past weekend. His car was new and had close to 500 miles now :-)

I might drive my 550 but at the time being I don't think I want to trade this wonderful car with the 575M. I am waiting to depreciate in 2 years.

My 550's MSRP was closed to $240k two years ago with all the options.

Have you read the latest Forza magazine saying that the article concluded 6 speed is better than F1 on 575M??
