A dry sump is a external tank that holds the engine oil. The oil is retained in the tank rather then the bottom of the engine to avoid starvation and it also lowers the overall height of the engine.

I know what you mean, I hear a dry slump fiberglass gtb can keep up with a 10 year newer 328 (!)

Then they are dreaming for 27K

23K if the PPI is clean and they have records.

Matt

Dry sumps went away in the early life of the car.

It was a GTS, and since I know of no outside indicators to tell if it was dry or wet slump, I cannot comment. I called them and they said it was a 79.

I asked about the slump....they had no clue.

If they have service records and the DOT/EPA and the miles are documented then it's a fair price. A appearance can be altered by a good detail so don't judge a book by it's cover. Euro dry sumps are RARE cars and can command that price even with those miles. I would PPI it and have a body shop look for rust.

Was it a GTB? If so it may be a Fiberglass car which makes 27K a Steal. Euro, dry sump, glass. DEAL DEAL DEAL

Mind you I am assuming it's a GTB and a dry sump.

but with that high miles(70,000+!!)? I mean the car's condition was nothing to scream about, and judging from the cars I have seen there before, service records will be nonexistant, not to mention DOT/EPA papers.

23K - 25K is fair for a euro carb. If it's a early dry sump then 27K is a deal.

down the road from me at an independant dealership. It was a black/black carb euro car as best I can tell (Mind you this was outside 9:30 at night)

The poor car was in need of a detailing bad, as it looked like brown on black background pokadot from the grim rain/buildup.

Needless to say I was interested, I mean the market for a Ferrari with such high miles would only be around 15-20, so I was thinking maybe offer 15, and use the car this summer, and then part her out if she decides to stop functioning.

So I called them today....they want 27k!!! haha
