I named my 575M the "incredible hulk" and my 360 spyder, "spyder man"!!.........just so I can talk about them at work over the phone with friends and not raise any suspicion.

My red 308 got named Gina after Gina Lollobrigida (a hot Italian). If it had been a black 308 I was going for Sophia...

Now lets do non Ferraris since I name all my cars but don't own one:

Dr. King: my trick '93 del Sol Si (you guys would have LOVED it!) named so because people of all races used to adore it (STOLEN)

The Duke: my 2000 VW Passat (check out my profile) named for Archduke Ferdinand. I chose this name because he was a) European and b) I wanted to continue on with the assassinated historical figures theme.

Ike: my 86 BMW 325pos name after Ike Turner. Ike is my beater.

Luke.

Actually, my two 2 year old grandsons named my 246, they call it coooocar [I think they are saying cool car]. I honestly do not know how they came up with it, but if that's what they want to call it, then that's what it is!

I try to call them by their color, e.g., the red car, the blu car. We lived in a small town in Pa, and I didn't want my step-daughters going to school talking about Mercedes or Porsche or, heaven forbid, Ferrari. So we always referred to them by color. Sort of reverse snobbery, and cut way down on the "In Cold Blood" factor.

I do not have a name for my car, but my girlfriend does, she actually has names for different parts of the car, as follows:

1) Gearbox (Rebuilt) 'My gorgeous new carpet'
2) Engine ($9K Major)'My new kitchen remodel'
3) New interior ($2K) 'My bathroom remodel'

Then again, Sunny came up with Belefonte's ,"Banana Song' DAAAAYYOOOO! being as the car is yellow.
The Yellow Peril?
At other times, while working on the car, I have called the car a few gender specific identifiers as well.

After asking for help to name mine on this site (see ,"Name that car") I decided on Tomcat. It's definately no princess and it's been 'around' with the scars to prove it.

I agree with Russ, I refer to my car simply as "The Ferrari". But there are some terms of endearment for some of the parts of the car that I came up with on the spur of the moment. Most of them are not fit to repeat as the "moment" usually involved frustration and/or injury.

The engine bay as a whole is refered to as "The Black Hole of Tools and Bolts" This is due to the fact that if you drop something in there, you ain't ever gonna see it again.

While I have never named an entire vehicle, I have often bestowed appellations on components of a vehicle as I have repaired it
Many of them are the same name.

"Mordecai". Oh wait, that was my 1964 VW Bug. I haven't named a car since I've been out of high school.

Augustine, that Azzuro Metallico 328 of yours is a beautiful blue... it looks like blue pearl paint in the photo.

I've heard that it is bad luck not to name your car. I imagine that this is even more so with a Ferrari. My girlfriend and I have decided on the name Isabella for my car. I'm curious to see what others have named their pride and joy. Pictures are of course appreciated.Upload
