the difference between the negative "feeling every bump" and the positive "feeling every nuance of the road" is of course an entirely subjective one. i only turn on the comfort setting on my 355 when i'm on a really bad road. the car definitely feels less responsive and less communicative. i never take my 550 out of sport mode unless i'm on a horrifically bad road, which i tend to avoid anyway. drive both and come to your own conclusions. to feel the diff b/w comfort and regular on the 355 you'll want to find a nasty road - it's not that obvious on a "normal" road IME. doody. |

Agree with Mitch 100%.. The computers make all the difference. The ride of the 355 is one of the most impressive aspects of the car - smooth, yet tight. I have yet to use the "comfort" setting. |

I have had a TR and now have a 95 F355. The ride in the TR may have been slightly smoother. I think the TR feels smoother because of the smoothness of the 12 cylinder engine vs a high reving V8. Less vibration feel in the TR. |

Night and day ,Ive driven both. The testarossa was not at all comfitorable for "me" . The 355 couldn't be more stable at high speed as well as nimble as hell in the turns.

I would test drive both before buying. I am far from an expert, but have driven both on an uneven road - park service very bumpy road, the kind one finds occassionally, that is not maintained. There is a large variance in Ferraris, so I do not know if my experience was typical. On the TR, I could feel almost every bump and it tended to wander a bit on the bumps. On the 355, far better. Sometimes bottomed out, but far smoother and it did not tend to wander. Again, I do not know if my experience was typical. |

I can't tell the difference between the comfort and normal setting: the car sometimes bottoms in either setting. the 355 does have a jarring ride, but that's what I bought it for.

I only know about the F355. There are two settings for the shocks, normal and comfort. In the comfort setting the car feels sloppy, and I only use it on bad roads. In the normal setting, the car is solid and I don't find it anoying at all. It is said that the computer adjusts the shocks so when you need the performance (even in the comfort setting) the shocks stiffen up in milliseconds. whatever, the car still feels sloppy. I drive 95% of the time in normal mode. The go-cartish ability to accelerate in yaw is what mid engined cars are all about. Low Polar moment and stiff chassis. Perhaps the TR is smoother because it weighs 15% more? |

While I was at a F dealer looking at 355's and TR's (1990 vintage) recently, the salesman told me that the ride in a TR is SOOOO much smoother than the 355. He said that in the 355, you feel every bump and it makes for a somewhat annoying ride after a while. Would those of you that own both (or have driven both) concur with this statement? I am up in the air as to which I want to buy for a 2nd F. I know about the "newer feeling" of the 355 and that the 355 is more "go-cartish", just wondering specifically about the ride. Thanks in advance, Jerry. |
