Do you think there would be any interest in an after market grill made form Stainless wire mesh? same shape and standard challenge grill but larger openings approximately 3/8" sqaure, this look would be similar to that of the new jaguar grill, or bentley grill, or similar to the old time head light covers on the porsche speedsters. Estimated retail would be about $800 to $1000each. Fronts could be done as well if there was any interest, no modifications to body, bolts in the same. Chrome could be done just as well as stainless. Just an idea, please comment.

The Challenge grill looks fab with my Black 360 - I think they look worst on a yellow 360 spider. Mine came with them so I can't comment on the temparature difference, but it does mean that you can see the shiny tubi exhaust from behind the car :-)

Note that I am only referring to the Challenge Grille on the back (holding tail lights), not to the "challenge grills" for the front. (You used plural, so I wanted to be sure we were talking about the same thing.)

Thanks Brian! This is good information. I've been back and forth on this issue, as I actually prefer the look of the car without Challenge grills. But considering that they do provide said benefit, I'll probably get them. Or, maybe just order the car without them, and purchase them separately and can always put them on later! This way at least I have a choice!

Thanks again!

Jason,
I was afraid you would ask for a finder's fee.
Regards,
Marty

Took me a 2.5 hours or so... but if you knew what you were doing and had an extra pair of hands, you could probably do it in an hour. Wasted about half an hour fishing a nut out of the bottom of the car!

Yes, it did seem to make a temperature difference... but since I did it in Spring as temperatures were increasing, its a bit hard to give good quantification. Others have said about 10'... and my experience would not say anything different.

Brian -- Did you notice any quantifiable drop in temperature after installing the Challenge grill? Also, curious to know, how long did it take you to perform the install? Thanks...

Why not give Kurt of ferraribooks.com (also another sponsor) a shout? I don't know if he can do Challenge grills, but his prices on parts are very competitive against European sources and much better than American sources.

I have bought 512TR parts and some manuals from him. Good guy to deal with.

On Martin's recommendation, I too bought from Andy. My cost was a bit higher... price had gone up, but even with shipping from UK to US, it was still much less than $1K (about $850, I think).

It was packaged well, but it did have a very faint depression/dent in the grille... not enough that I did anything about it... not really noticable... but I am a perfectionist.

I installed it myself... had a little difficulty with two of the 12 nuts, but overall it was easy.
