A stock e46 M3 is plenty, in my opinion. It is such a great car for the everyday road, you really do not need too much more unless you are going to track it. How often do people really drive at the limit of their cars on public roads?

Matthew,

The car had a front strut brace, bigger brakes-crossdrilled, larger front and rear anti-roll bars, and a short throw shifter. Nothing to the engine (yet). It had a better turn-in, but to be honest these improvement were for the track, as on the road I found the car skittish with wierd shifter/clutch noises, and a huge brake groan on soft applications. I think I'll keep mine stock.

400 HOURS!!!!!!!!!!
That's 10, 40 hour weeks! You could take the car entirely apart and put it back together again in that amount of time.

Frank,

Nice looking F355! The detailer was not your guy but the owner of Dream Cars (forgot his name). As you know, in Ferrari concours, the most important thing is originalty/authenticity followed by condition follwed by cleanliness. My engine bay got zero deductions at Cavallino this year so its nice to know my 1-2 hour detail is good enough. I dont know where I'd find the time to do a 400 hr let alone a 40 hr detail!

What happeneed to the days when people ordered $2600 Tubi exhausts on new cars, and drove 'em straight from the dealership to the track?

Best!
Ben.

The detailer must be Eddy Fiuza. Last month he flew to ATL to do some cars before a major auction and did many cars at Palm Beach Cavallino. I know he's doing an Enzo for a Shelton customer.

Eddy sponsors a car show and last month I got first place - Ferrari Division. Don't know about 400 hr detail...But to be honest, I spent a good 40 hour week on my motor before the show...

Why does it take 400 hours? Your wife will worry more about your clean shoes on the white rug vs this engine when its done. If you "show," you "know!!" :-)

Guys (and gals),

Had a pretty good car day. Took my E46 M3 in for its 15K service (ZERO dollars) and my sevice advisor, who is about a 12 on a scale of 1-10 in terms of competence and coolness, gives me a loaner- his own modified E46 M3. So I take it down the road to the Ferrari dealership since I hear an Enzo is there getting a PDI (pre del insp). Oh boy, I guess if you are going to buy a car that costs as much as a very nice house, you go to extremes. Everyone was more than happy to show it to me- all around and up on a lift to see under it- I was around it for about 45 min. It is a gorgeous car in person! Anyway, a well known detailer was flown in from FL to do a $2600 detail on a brand new car- removing panels and cleaning the insides of them, etc etc etc. They find some very minor damage- INSIDE body panels, so the Owner from Carrosierre (?sp)drives a couple hundred miles to inspect so he can fix it. There was a flurry of activity around getting the car ready. I understand the owner will hardly ever drive it- just garage candy. Even still I was very grateful that the salesman, mechanic, and detailer came up to me to tell me all about the car and delivery process.

I also looked at a 82 BBi and was tempted to ask the price, but I'm cool for now with cars. It had received a 400 HOUR engine detail--Huh???. It looked great but why in the world does it take so long? Mine looks pretty good after 1-2 hours of detailing.

Tha only thing missing from today was I didnt get to drive my 328- I'll take care of that this weekend.
