A really good shop can match the shade of your paint so you dont have to have the whole thing re painted. I had my front hood repainted on my 328 and you cant tell.

Thanks for the info, know what I will do now. Luckly the damage is about in the middle from front to rear.

The Ferrari will very soon be the daily driver. The damage is on the current daily driver which is becoming an extra car to leave at locations I am flying into often, for guest use, use on really bad roads, etc.

Have a great weekend, Dave

Dave:

On a Ferrari, I'd repaint the entire car. There is no way you can spot these without it showing. That's what insurance is for, though.

Dave, depending on how close the damage is to the outward edges of the door, not only would the door need to be repainted, but possibly a "blend" in to the adjoining panel. Single panel painting where one panel meets up to the other panel STICKS OUT LIKE A SORE THUMB. Because of the body lines, the panels draw more a ttention and slight color, texture, finish differences are quite noticeable. Most body shops would not refrain from blends, as their reputation rides on the line. However, for a 2 inch scratch (I know that yours is larger) do not expect to get half of the car painted.

Recently at a hotel several cars were vandalizied.

I guess it had to happen one day, but the daily driver MB got keyed on the drivers door, about a 9 inch mark plus one tire got slashed. Other cars received more damage.

What is the best way to get this fixed? Can keying damage normally be spot painted or does the entire door panel need to be repainted? What type of shop is the best place to take this to?

Thanks for the info.
