I had a 1986 328 GTS and now own a 1994 348 Spider. The 348 is much more fun to drive and looks better IMHO. However, the 348 is more expensive to service. |

328, I think cus it was a solid V8 Ferrari it will have better resale value, The 348 may always be chased by a stigma of 2nd class Ferrari since it already has it now |

Michael, as a fellow Canadian, you may want to check out John Scotti in Montreal, (514) 735-0555, http://www.johnscotti.com My parents came back from a vacation there and stopped by and checked out the place. They've got LOADS of cars. Examples would be (prices in Cdn): '89 328 GTS Red/Tan, 48000KM, $79900 '89 328 GTS White/Tan only 190KM on the clock! $139900 (but with that little mileage, there'll be a whole pile of problems - leaky hoses/seals, etc...) '91 TR Yellow/Black, 23000KM, $139000 Prices a little high, but many cars to chose from. |

Well, I am now on the "waiting list" for either car at the dealer. I think the 348 is probably the way I will/to go. The salesman called today with a '91 Testarossa with 9000 babied kilometres (about 5,400 miles)red on tan (my must have colour combo), one owner in perfect condition. Asking is approx. $143-147 CDN. However, I must have a spyder or targa, so I will wait. Thanks for the helpful responses and I will keep the board posted. Mikester |

I bought my second 348 spider last June. I owned first one in France when it first came out (sold it when I moved to the US 2 years later. It does nail you to the seat at full throttle. I do not think the 328 does that. Please someone correct me if I am wrong... I can tell you from experience they definitely worked out all the problems by the time the spider came out in 1994. Only problem I have is a small leak from clutch. No big deal. I will get it fixed at the next service (replace gasket) I believe there is no comparaison in terms of performance plus you get the sound of the engine right behind you (in the spider) Late model 348 TS probably would be good too for the same reasons and at least 15K less than the spider. Make sure you get later model though, preferably last year. Neither the late 328s nor the later models mentioned above should depreciate much anymore... Good luck |

If you go into search there are several topics of that nature that have compared this subject. Briefely: The 348 is the technically advanced car. Looks people tend to have different opinions. Never buy a frist model year car. That is where all the problems are. 328 not much better than the 348. Although 328 took a lot from the 308 and did not suffer as bad. 348 is my daily driver, AC perfect and overall a great driver. I had a 328 and the car was just great too, but not as comfortable and not as reliable. 328 is more a hands on yourfself car. You can do some service yourself. The 348 has only reduced ability for that. Resale value: the 328 will not drop much, notr do I expect a 348 to drop more and the $50K-$55K you can buy them for. Remember Major service at 15K and 30K or every 5 years! Go into Keyword search and find more on these topics. Good luck and welcome to the Ferrari Family soon. |

Hello, I need some serious help and advice here. The time is nearing (quickly) for my decision as between a late model 348 or a late model 328. INITIAL cost nor LOOKS are NOT the deciding factors here, although resale value could be (depending on whether the model purchased, whichever that may be, turns out to need reselling in a shorter time frame than I plan!). Thus, I need some input vis-a-vis obvious performance/modernity advantage of the 348 versus (what I have heard) are increased maintenance costs/hassles and "terrible" shifter and poorer build quality (restricted to earlier 348s?). By the way, the choice would be a targa in either model and the latest and best example of either that I can find (through the dealer, Ferrari of Ontario). Any input on these and other matters either of a comparative nature between the two models or "stand alone" praises/criticisms/personal experiences (& costs and joys) of ownership would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Mikester Cannuck |
