Re: F1 transmission

I've heard that the computer does have a learning capability. Is this true on the 355?

Marty,
Get comfortable with the system in normal mode...It's a lot less sensitive to driver input and the engine break effect when downshifting is more subtle...It's definately the better mode to hone your skills on

Martin,

I think you "hit the nail on the head": sexy vs classy (of course still a little sexy). Raw sexy vs classy sexy. That is how I am starting to view the 8s vs the 12s.

Enjoy the new experiences.

It is a nice car indeed. I've learned not to just "floor" the throttle all at once, but to smoothly and quickly push the pedal to the floor.

What mode do you use most - sport or normal ?

I've put close to 1000 miles in the last two weekends! I love the way the auto blips the throttle during downshifts in sport mode. Albiet a little bit rough at first, I think the computer is figuring out the way I drive (aggressive) and is getting in tune with my responses. All in all I have only positive impressions of my F1 575M! Truly a gorgeous automobile.

Marty,
Glad you're enjoying it.....The downshift technique alters a little bit depending on whether the car is in sport mode or normal mode.
Give it about six weeks, and it will all feel as natural as can be.

The F1 is truly an exciting experience..
The upshifts are smooth as silk as long as one maintains the throttle down at the level of previous gear. The downshifts are more tricky if one is say passing. The trick which I learned from my buddy with an F1 is is to first downshift keeping the throttle at the same level THEN floor it.This diminishes the lurching people talk about.I was flooring it at the same time or even slightly before downshifting.
The torque is stunning and the car smooth as silk.Really feels like a big car until you floor it.Corners fabulously and the tubi is really necessary because the standard exhaust is pretty quiet. The 360 felt much lighter and more tossable. It truly is an exciting and different experience compared to a 6 spd.,Looks are always subjective.IMO the 360 is sexy--the 575 classy. The carbon fiber interior is gorgeous.
