Yes, Mike... details... I didn't think Stradale's were shipping to the US until Nov or so... though I heard there was a sample being shown at a few events (like Homestead in April). P.S. I agree that the Stradale will have limited appeal... that many will be flipped by owners who got more "racecar" than they ever wanted... and thus short-term they will likely depreciate worse than most. OTOH, 20 years from now, their more limited numbers and high likelihood of hard use may make them fairly collectable... but I would not consider that a very wise investment. |

The Viper Competition Coupe I understand completely, wow. What I meant is, it just doesn't seem to me that "race cars for the street" get all that close to the feel/performance of a real purpose built race car. So I have track only cars to get that thrill. But I'm not complaining about the race car for the street deal, heck, I'm a buyer. |

Apparently these cars are NOT being snapped up that quickly?? I'm still a year away on Spider list but was able to order Stradle no wait! The concept of a "street legal race car" works for me. I'm taking delivery of the Viper Competion Coupe which is NOT street legal! I'm hopefully getting it in time to run Silverstate this month..the Stradle I guarantee will see Silverstate Also!!! I'm not the average Ferrari buyer so it's hard to determine if this car will be a "winner from a collectors' standpoint. One thing appears obvious it SHOULD be a winner from a drivers' standpoint!

On the list for a Stradale, hope I get one, will not want the lexan windows. I like having the race proven technologies on a street car, even though in general I don't really believe in the "race car for the street" concept. I'm sure I'll track the Stradale every now and then. I have had no thought that the car might prove to be an investment; to the contrary, I think the car will have limited appeal, and I think some of the cars will be purchased new by folks who will quickly discover it's not what they want. With so many enthusiasts on this forum, it's interesting to me that a club racing program, like that developed by other marque clubs, has not developed. |

I think that's what they have in mind like the 250GTO and 250SWB of old. |

I know, it's just that having all those cool race-proven technologies on a road car seems to be such a waste. Perhaps Maranello intended it as a track day Ferrari, where you drive it to the track, use it's full potential (carbon brakes, F1-style lightning quick shifts, high horse power output with low restriction air filters etc) and then drive it back home. |

MFZ No the challenge is a spec series for challenge spec race cars, the Stradale is a street car. The lexan windows are street legal in some places. |

I'm sorry if someone asked this, but can you race the Stradale in the Ferrari 360 Challenge series? I'm talking about the Challenge Stradale with the Lexan windows and full race-kit version. |

I actually already made a reservation with SVR for renting their new Stradale in Germany this fall. Apparently they are scheduled to take delivery 2 weeks before I arrive, so it should work out perfectly. I'll be sure to report back regarding the driving experience, with plenty of pics!! Already counting the days!! |

I'm not sure it will be a good investment... if you are going to try to flip it, the 420 will be out by then, so it probably will not appreciate as much as say 360 spiders... |

I agree with Andrew, the 360 Modena vs 360 Stradale will probably be like the 512TR vs 512M... where the 512M depreciates at a somewhat slower rate than a standard 512TR. But you also have to remember, there's probably a somewhat more narrow market for a 360 Stradale if/when you may go to sell it. IMHO, buy the car YOU will enjoy most, and don't worry about the investment, as it's true -- very few cars ever are a good "investment." |

Comparing the challenge cars to the stradale is wrong because the challenge cars are bound to have a busy track life which means crash and heavy use .. The Stradale is a road car that will see some track days. Plus it will be limited in numbers due to the fact that the production wont run for more than 1 year and half to the max against 3/4 years for the challenge cars. It will be like the 512M , it will depreciate but at a slower speed than the reg 360 or the 360 C .

I'm not sure of the total numbers, but Shelton is getting 12 total, 3 this year and the rest in 2004. |

The stripe is an option. IMHO practically no car is an investment. |

I don't think I can get use to that stripe down the middle..But I like the idea of having a true track car for the road. If it's going to be a limited production vehicle I would consider it a good investment.. |

99.999999% of the cars on planet earth depreciate. depreciating assets are not good investments - unless you can figure out some way to short-sell them (ie: you're a leasing company) ;-). the 348 challenge; 355 challenge; and 360 challenge cars are not appreciating in value. i don't see why the stradale will. bad investment, but as Tom D. says, GREAT toy. doody. |
