Just got my recall notice. My serial number is within the range listed. My question is: Why did it take 16 years for a recall???????? |

Thanks guys!!! Magnusson - You Are The Man when it comes to Testarossas!!! I'll contact FNA, and hear what they have to say. I bought my TR through an independent, not a FNA certified dealer. If my car needs the recall work to be done, I'll ask Antoine at Autosport Designs (where I bought the TR from) which dealer he wants me to send it to. Again thanks for the advice fellas!!!! - Hutch |

I don't know about Ferrari but most car companies contract out their recall work to a company like Polk that gathers registration data and uses it to create mailing lists. Just because you didn't get a mailing doesn't mean you don't qualify for the recall. Just call your local dealer. |

Hutch -- go here: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/recallsearch.cfm and search on NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 03V142000 (or by year, model, make if you want) I thought the state DMVs "told" Ferrari who to contact based on vehicle registration records for these NHTSA recalls, but the recall notice also has the appropriate FNA number to call so couldn't hurt to contact them direct. (I'm surprised by how few TRs are affected -- only ~2000) |

I've got to call FNA and give them my VIN#. I just got my TR back in March, and haven't registered my ownership with FNA. I will also ask FNA about the seat belt recall. Now, my question to you guys is, who would you use to do the belt fix, Ferrari of Long Island or Wide World of cars? Thanks for the advice!! - Hutch |

I got my letter last week. I've already converted my TR to "normal" belts. The recall letter states you may be elligible for reimbursement if you fixed the belt system more than 10 days prior to the official notice date. So I called Ferrari and was told that the fix must be to return the motorized belts back to their original working condition. And then they said that even if you did fix them, that Ferrari must still replace them with the new system. But the new system is still the motorized-mouse type which I hate. I'm still debating on whether to take my TR to the nearest dealer (125 miles away) or leave it the way it is. |
