My friend built a V-8 Vega in the '80s.....Ah, it's just not the same. Actually it is not at all the same and neither the Subaru or Vega should even be used in the same sentence as an F-Car. Regardless of what the numbers read. Cheers.

The SRT-4 is a great car. The reason it does so well is that it is very underrated from the factory. Listed at 215 Hp by the factory, Sport Compact dynoed one at 223 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque at the front wheels! :-)

Nice article here: http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/roadtests/012scc_dodge/

Would be a fun autocross/track car...

HaHaHa...Rob...I was hoping to get a reaction...you actually owned a LeCar??? LOL

I was reffering to the forgoten Renault R5 Turbo II's & III's...they were LeCar based...you could have upgraded..;-)

Hey, if you're tired of Neon's kicking the crap out of you, here's a nifty 12 cylindar engine you can drop in your car for a little more oomph off the line. Do you think a stock 308 suspension can handle it?

My Integra is faster than most 308's, but it doesn't have that pininfarina style.

he probably meant the renault super5. It came out before before peugeuot entered the rally scen with their 205. It was a bad little car.

I've never had problems with Subaru dealers, probably because my family has a few. Anyone on F-chat that wants a WRX or WRX STi on the east coast, check out any of the 'Dan Perkin's' dealerships and send me an email before you buy, I can put in a good word :-):

The WRX is my daily car. Subaru has to offer more goodies to its cars though. I had a custom orange and black leather interior installed with the WRX logo on the seats. It was a blast this past winter. I have to stop watching so much of the WRC championships on the Speed Channel. I got rid of my Lexus GS400 to get this little Subaru. Thinking of getting the STi when it arrives in the US finally.

I'm new to this chat board. I'm also new to the world of Ferrari ownership. I have a 328 GTS on it's way here in the next 12 days. I'm like a kid at Christmas.

Dealer or no dealer, the WRX is a great car. AWD, reliability, safety & better build quality makes it more desirable than the new Neon. I'm glad the WRX is ugly, so that it attracts less troopers. Evo 8 is also a great car except for Mitsu reliability issues and the need for frequent service & tires. Its no 575M, but still beats it on the track. (I'll take the 575 or 550M though). New STI looks like a great performer & is probably easier to run than the Evo8.

If it were me i would have lit em up in leaving their lot.
I also have a bad experince. A dealership in my town didnt let me test drive one. Too bad the car i drove at the time had a trade in value (and you always get shafted on trade ins) that was more than the WRX's sticker. As far as they knew, i wanted to trade it in on the wrx (i wasnt really going to).

Subaru dealers were the RUDEST PEOPLE I have ever delt with! And it wasn't just me, heard that from many others about that dealership.

It's a subaru.. not an exotic. Ohhhh it's 24K, I'm not sure I can swing that! She wanted me to only "take a short drive down the street and back" to keep the miles low on the 13 cars they had in stock. Told her no thanks, got into the viper and drove off the lot. She didn't see me come in, best part was her face. I just wanted a winter beater with AWD.

Screw'em.

Sounds like a good econobox...

Less than the WRX and Lancer EVOs too.

There's definitely something about that WRX with its boxer engine though...

Didn't an FChat member have one?

Thats right F-car fans, many of us will now be getting out doors smoked by none other than a showroom stock Dodge Neon. To make matters worse, this Neon sells brand new for under $20K.

check it out:

http://www.allpar.com/neon/neon-srt-4.html

Of coarse I realise its not really F-car competition and is meaningless for any comparison purpose. However I do find it AMAZING and GREAT that a US car company is able to offer this kind of performance in a nice little sedan at this price! How many more years before your $25K Dodge sedan does 0-60 in 4.5 sec and tops out at 190mph while pulling 1.2g on the skidpad????

I'll wait a couple of years and pick one of these Neons up for under $10k to use as a daily hack!
