If you have any questions on the interior, I had mine totally down to bare metal including the doors with the skins removed. You will find hidden bolt holes for 5 point racing harness and roll cage. The car is very heavy for what it is and I could see how a true race car can be made out of this shaving off an easy couple hundred pounds just on the interior alone not really gutting it either.

Hey Vince, the cats sometimes get clogged on either or both, the cat filter falls apart from heat and vibration and turns sideways creating major heat and can mess up the sensor. The cure, pound out the insides hollow or put test pipes. I pounded the insides hollow to pass visual, I don't want to risk a big fine. Never saw check lights ever again. Power regained..

modman is right Dr.

You can do it. Use the force.

No, really, it's not that hard.

Modman,

I'd be interested in your fix for a check 1-4 though everything sounds and runs great. (o2 sensor?)

You will not have a problem finding a replacement alternator as most local auto parts store will have it. You can find a replacement one as little as $80 as I have found or a rebuild kit. Very easy to replace the alternator and can be done easily within 1/2 an hour for the average person, I can do it in 15 mins on a lift. If I remember it was a couple of bolts and a tensioner. You can do it yourself Dr., I'd be very surprised if you can't. No skills or knowledge required to do this simple task. If one day your car hesitates to start and turn over, let me know as I have found the problem for that one too. Engine fault lights is another one I have encountered also but took care of that also all on my own. You might also encounter poor door connections too, all these are very common in the 348 and can be an easy fix when shown.

not anyone,

try this: Tommorrow when the auto part store opens call them. Have handy the part #s that you found during your search, also have handy the part # of the alternator that you are now holding in your hand-anxiously awaiting said autoparts store to open. Give the guy the #s and see what he can do for you.

Remember: replacement equals almost instant gratification.

rebuild equals Ferrari parked for a little while.

Good Luck, let us know what happens tommorrow. :-)

Dr.

That battery is a Delco. I'd take it to the local rebuild shop.

>>BTW How do you check the alternator??? Can I do it fromthe jump post in the engin compartment????? <<

yes you can test the Alt from the jump post in the eng. compt.

When given the price difference, most of my clients choose a rebuild and have never had a problem, as long as the cam seals aren't leaking into the Alt.

It is important to stress the importance of using the heavy duty Regulator during the rebuild process.

Dr.

Alternator.

Options are upgrade or rebuild. I'd rebuild.

Reverse Polls?!?!?!?!?!?

HuH???

I tooke the bat to Auto Zone, they gave me what they saud was the closest to the one I had, which was made by "Interstate" I agree, I will be firm but fair. I want to do business with them again. I agree they simply missed it, but I am still mad!!!! I hope the new one works well.

BTW How do you check the alternator??? Can I do it fromthe jump post in the engin compartment?????

Buy an orange top Optima . It is the best battery out there and the orange top gives you the reverse poles you need for a 348.

If your batt is in the front, there is a jumper post near the right shock tower in the engine compartment. I've done it a couple of times but just be really careful.

No need to take the wheel off.

you can either jump or tickle charge it from the engine compartment. There is a positive and a ground on the passenger side of the engine compartment. If your battery is in the left front, you have to remove the front wheel, and the interior of the bodywork. A major pain in the you know what.

Depends on what year your car is as to where the battery is located. If the battery is in the LF area, there is a + battery connection in the engine compartment on the pasenger side. See your owners manual.
