Dr.

there are testers available that actually "load" the battery to tell you how much crancking power it has. First charge and then test.

To test the alternator there are mini testers that you put right on the alternator wire going to the battery and they will show current. This will only tell you if your alternator is working.

These things are available at your nearest autoparts store, or you may be able to borrow one if you know any mechanics or someone who owns equipment.

I agree that it looks like a fading battery on its way out.

Try to test the battery to see if it is holding charges. If you charge it overnight and soon thereafter it still appears undercharged, you need to replace the battery.

I replaced mine, and have had no probelm since.

Sounds like a dead battery to me. I would probably just replace it and not deal with the problem. And I probably will not use the ground disconnect (for fear that this might lead to other electrical problems). No need to trickle charge unless storing it for a long period of time (e.g. over 1 month). I feel for you as it is embarrasing that your 'new baby' won't start infront of friends, and had to borrow jumper wires. I hope you didn't get electrical juice from a friend's viper or corvette (or some other equivalent), because you'll never heard the end of it. Goodluck.

I had this problem before. The battery will not hold charge after 1 week in the garage and the battery was 2.5 years old.

I replaced it with Optima and now it's fine even if the car sits for 3 weeks.

I think tickle charger is only useful in winter hibernation.

Good luck, DrS.

Yes it will help. How ever you have to be careful when you first start it up, after you reconnect the battery. You need to let the car just sit and idle for at least 15 minutes, so the the ECU's can recalibrate themselves. But you shouldn't have to do that unless you plan on leaving the car sit for a month or more. With the quality batteries that are being made these day you shouldn't have to worry about that.

Drs I second what Modman said. Your battery is gone. I had the same problem with my car about three months ago. If you can't jump start it, why don't you try the good ol push start?

You have a bad battery it sounds like. Usually once the battery is aged or drops dead you will have a hard time to save the battery esp. acid types. You may want to test each cell as I've seen cells go bad. Also check the alternator as the earlier models Delco Remy versions go bad too. You can usually go 2 weeks without having to disconnect the battery for storage, if it dies prematurely within a week, it's time to check for current drainage.

I figured out how to jump the thing off, had to turn the page in the Man...

Now I am stuck at a friend's Resaurant and.....

It's DEAD AGAIN!!!! DAMN!!!

1) How do I attach a Trickel Charger to this thing??? Can I do it to the Jump Box and the Stud as you would attach jumpers to jump it off???????

2) If I jump it off the Alt does charge the Batt. But the Batt dies after about 45 min After shutdown from as 20 mile drive. If I activate the Ground Disconect in the Boot, will or would that prevent the Batt from discharging???
