I found the problem to be a broken cable. it's made out of hard plastic. I tried to melt it together but the joint wasn't strong enough and cable snapped apart again when the motor ran. Can this plastic cable be replaced? The cable seems to be connected to the tip of the antenna but how do I get to it? yank off the black plastic tip? |

Most likely the mast is bad. It has a toothed pigtail that often breaks in two. If you can pull the whole thing out and measure it, along with a brand name and model, they may be able to sell you a replacement.... just a thought. I had a hell of a time finding a replacement semi-automatic antenna for my 328, but they have them, including a nice one with a black mast and cap. |

sure antennas are easy. go to autozone or where ever. I think they're universal. |

Thanks Dave, that's a lot of antennas on that site. Looks like it's not going to be cheap |

www.antennaworld.com They have a wide selection of various types. It is not the easiest site to surf, but I found their sales help to be very good. Just ask, and they will get back to you promptly. Dave |

When I got the 348, it came with a fully automatic antenna installed above the battery in the rear left quarter panel. Today, I can hear the motor running but it would only go up/down a few inches. Instead of taking it apart and checking if one of the plastic gears is stripped, I wouldn't mind buying a new one if it's inexpensive. Who makes/sells a small automatic antenna that fits? (the standard universal is too big!) |
