John D & Dave

I often have the 9 year old in my office when I am on FChat. Just wondering if you have a good reason for the 'chick-pic' posts? Its really annoying!

Modman,

i'd post a few photos, but then things would get all weird here with those who are more modest... blah blah blah... Been there, done that on this discussion board.

...and this one time, when i was at band camp... LOL

Enjoy the Drive,

Strong smell of leather and leatherique -sp? before I drive it, kinda like burned oil smell after I drive it with a hint of the leather aroma still around plus a strong dose of adrenaline. My car makes some metal ting ting noises after I come back from a drive, I think its saying, "aren't you going to wash me" It's pissed off at me these days because I've been lazy about keeping him clean. My car is a boy by the way.

The best my 308 ever smelled was after my first date with my current girlfriend of six years! Maybe it was the car cover we used in the field! :-)

I don't know about in a new, just serviced 550, but I suspect any of the older cars smell appropriately like gas and oil and all that good stuff. the burning wire smell is also well known, but that's not a good one.

My old Brit crap (72 Europa) smells a little of engine oil before a drive and gear oil after. The interior has new carpeting and that 'new car smell' mixes quite nicely with the gear oil scent. You know this aint no Lamborghini!

I dont really noticed how the engine smells but it "ticks" on after a drive.
Besides I absolutely ADORE the strong smell of the leather everytime I enter the car although it is already 13 years old. Really rare, have never experienced this in any other car before.
Like it very, very much. Everytime I smell it I feel home again. :-)

My Mondial has a rather peculiar smell. It's not a bad smell or anything. The dealer that sold me the car told me that it's normal for an old Ferrari to smell like, well, an old Ferrari, for lack of a better word to describe it. I think it comes from the carpet or something, and yes, I did have the carpet cleaned before, but the smell is still there. Doesn't matter now, I am not bothered about it.

After a drive, my 550 gear gate is always very warm. As to the smell, I drive with the windows open except at speed.

I am going to check on the sound of the raditors. I have never listen to my engine if I am not in the beast.

The only plastic in the car that I can see would be the radio face plate. Otherwise, it is leather, metal, cloth, or glass.

Ah, I hope this doesn't get me kicked off this board for being too kinky, but... after a hard drive, how does your Ferrari smell? Those of us who have had (or still have) old Brit Crap or air cooled Porsches know what I'm talking about. They kinda smell like burnt oil and, well, kinda like an engine...

The dealer detailed my 550 so I can't really tell. Right now, it smells a little like burnt WD40 or a vague electrical smell. But this is slowly going away.

And while I have you, what kind of sounds does your car make after a drive? Apparently, my 550 has twin raditors cause I hear this gurling sound around the front bumper. Is this normal?

And before you think that I'm really weird... The love bugs are out big time in Texas. So even after a short drive you have to get personal with the car. I don't want you to get the wrong idea about my relationship with this car, But my wife did kick me out of the house... So I had to choose between the dogs or the car and, well, the car doesn't have fleas...

Dale
