Hey Kate,
As I said if you ever get to LA your more than welcome,It is a great car to drive but requires a bit of skill (I have spun it off the track 3x!) as to top speed, 135mph on the straight away at Willow springs,Theoretical top end is about 180mph, but not many places available to go that fast! I do drive the car almost every day, but also have a Mercedes SUV to haul my 2 flea bitten Hounds around in and of course for grocery shopping!
By the way what do you do for work?
Cheers!
Jonathan

I stand by what I said. It's not that girls cannot like Ferraris, but there's something not quite right with the way this person is posting. It seems too perfect.

Kate
Not only can women like and understand Ferrari's in my case I think my daughter likes my cars a little more than my son. It gives me great pleasure to share my love of cars with her. I meant what I said about the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It's well worth checking out.
Cheers

Kate,

Feel free to take part at our community although some members seem not to believe that even women can get interested in Ferraris! Kindly ignore them IMO since there are still lots of people who are willing to answer your questions.
Welcome to FChat!
Still hope you stay here longer! :-)

Kate, don't let these guys scare you away. I think it's fantastic that more women are into Ferraris or cars in general. I even think there should be more women race drivers.

Anyways, welcome!

Kate, your going to find a lot of nice people on the board, some likely in the UK who might let you experience what its like behind the wheel of a Ferrari on the open road. Its something I haven't tried yet either (still learning how to drive a standard).

I find those who are in accidents or close to those who were tend to be overly cautious. Nothing like learning the lesson first hand.

Good luck in your pursuit!

I was 21 when I had my first Ferrari. Since I paid for it in hard labor (okay so it was not all that hard but paid for never the less) I knew how much a crash can hurt financially.
I have yet to crash any (!) of my cars. The only incident I had was with my dads car clipping another because he jumped on the brakes trying to cause the accident. Damage $50 on my car and the other guy had nothing. Although some scheister lawyer told him to sue fo PIP, which I told him to please bring it on. When the lawyer saw that I will not settle for $1 but actually go to court and instructed my insurance co to NOT pay under ANY circumstances, the lawyer dropped the case immediately.

So being young and foolish is not an excuse. I certanly hope you learned something there Kate.

Either way these incidents occured: first crashed the car and then got 2 speeding fines, means you are stiull too fast even after the crash or 2 speeding fines and then a crash, means the fines did not work and you had to crash. I don't even want to go to fine crash another fine....

Guys, this isn't pick up the one female a year that visits this site and never to return again. Be nice to the ladies. No "show me your pic" pressure. What does her pic and driving the Ferrari have anything to do with it? Nika is the only one that has lived through our abuse. Where's Bonnie? However, you want to post pics, that's your choice. If you want to post pics in swim wear, that's your choice too. Heck, we have guys that post their pics in underwear, much less swim suits.

This is why you need to be at least 30 before driving a Ferrari. I know that if I'd had one before I was 30, it'd been totalled in a week. I know some of you have Ferraris in your 20s. Some of those got wrecked and the rest of you were lucky.

Kate, you are a menace to yourself and others on public roads with your current lack or driving skills. Pay your fines, take some driving lessons and ask again in a year to drive the Ferrari if you can avoid more incedents and are still among the living.

Come on guys... we all make mistakes... like... umm... roll overs and such... Anyway, I doubt she would do such a thing in her dad's Ferrari... Like mike 308 said, if it's a safe area, maybe with her dad in the passengers seat, she could give it a try...

I do agree with Martin on one point though... we need a picture to decide... :-)

If you manage to do the floowing in 2 months only:

a. totaled your car rolling it on top
b. get already 2 speeding fines

you can :

1. not claim being young as an excuse (but bad habits and driving skills)
2. would not be allowed in the same house that is attached to my Ferrari garage.

So giving that your Dad has not yet kicked you out of the house (that is what I would have done), I think you are in good shape being allowed to sleep under the same roof as the Ferrari.

Hi Andrew & Jens & Martin
Firstly just a little confession. After having my driving licence 2 months I rolled my car and destroyed it. I also have two speeding fines on my licence but surley that's all part of being young???!!!
I totally agree with you Jens It can't be that different, I'm going to show my dad all these postings and see what he says then!!

I want to have my photo taken whilst driving the ferrari but I'm not even allowed as close as the garage door!! I'll see what I can do

Some boys with toys get all pig headed about them. When my daughter is old enough, I'll let her drive my Lotus. Occasionally! You should be allowed to drive the Ferrari every now and then.

without a photo of yourself we will not be able to determine if you should or should not!

:-)

okay just kidding.

But I would not let you drive either. You are 20 and need to earn your Ferrari. And then you always drive on the wrong side anyways.

Kate,

If you can drive a car with manual transmission you can easily drive a Ferrari. Off course you should be careful about the power etc. but you can adjust to that quite fast!
If you love driving you will love driving a Ferrari... :-)
If Ashley and your dad get on your nerves with all the Ferrari talk I consider it as more than fair to let you have a drive to find out about these cars!

Con saluti cordialissimi,
Jens Haller

P.S. I love to see a Ferrari with a women behind the wheel! Very cool!

I would ask him to let you in a "safe area" as mike 308 says.

Ferraris are some incredible machines too... If you want to increase your appreciation I recommend you look up Enzo Ferrari's history and past races as well as how the cars are made.

Have your Dad take you and your sister to the Goodwood Festival of speed in July. Take a look at Nicks 250GTO. If you feel like I did the first time I heard Hendrix it's for you. If not stick to cricket...

He should let you drive it most definitely. But be careful... the addiction rate is very, very high. It will be very hard to go back to a "normal car".

First , you should love Ferraris even without driving them :-) .
Seriously though, I think he should let you drive unless you have a bad driving history :p ..The Mondial isnt hard to drive anyway. Ask him to take you on an empty road , on a DRY day , windows open then you should discover what Ferraris are all about !

Good luck !

If you're a good driver, then they should let you try it out in a safe area!

Well, I fell in love with Ferrari before I ever even drove one. I first fell in love with it's shape as I saw it in magazines, tv, and bought models. I then fell in love with it's history as I read stories and books on the marquee. First time I actually saw one in person and heard it my life long fate of love had been sealed. I didn't drive my first one until I was 26. Bought my first one at 26 and actually driving one has increased my love and passion, but I had it long before I ever drove one. If you don't have the love being around one or driving in the passenger seat of one, then I don't think you're all of a sudden going to be crazy about it.
