You will get all kinds of answers to this but here goes.
The 360 was a drastic departure from the styling & performance of the 355. The 360's replacement (the 420?) will likely be very similar to the 360 in looks, but with some styling improvements and of course a bigger engine etc.

The 360 spyders are still selling above sticker, but I hear that some are being had for at sticker or below due to the economy. European models are even cheaper and folks in the US are importing them to save the money and then converting them to US standards.

If I were you and you really want a 360 spyder I would just buy an used one at sticker or slightly above. If you put down a deposit on the replacement it will be years in the waiting and then the styling may be almost the same.

There is a post going right now about what car will be replaced next the 575 or the 360. Rumor is that the 575 is lagging sales so it will be revamped before the 360 thus pushing the 360 replacement out to 2006.

There are plenty of 360 spyders on the market so you should be able to get what you want color/miles wise.

Oh and in regards to price drops of the 355 spyder now. You can get one for about $85K US up to asking prices of $125K which is crazy. I think they sold new for what???? $145K, not sure on that.

Plain old 360's have dropped from the $170K mark down to about $135K and the 550's have dropped from almost $200K down to $130K.

It really is a great time to buy used if you dont mind the selection.

I've owned (and still own) a number of Porsches, but the latest models really don't do it for me, and I'm thinking to order a Ferrari 360 Spider. The dealer with whom I've spoken said Ferrari has asked for an updated list of everyone wanting a 360 spider, and he infers that Ferrari may try to fill all of these before introducing the new model.

My knowledge of the Ferrari market is zero, and since the 360 replacement will be about due by the time I take delievery of a new one, I'd appreciate some insight on how the market works. Although I currently live in Germany, I want to order a US spec car that I can keep for a long time when I return home in 05.

Specific questions:

Due to the long (currently indefinite) waiting list for 360 Spiders, used ones trade for much more than sticker. Was this also the case with the 355 Spider before the 360 Spider arrived? If so, did the prices of 355 Spiders immediately drop upon the intro of the 360 Spider?

How do the current prices of 355 Spiders compare to what they sold for new?

I haven't really looked at 360 coupes - do used ones also currently trade for more than list price? Curiously, here in EUrope used 360 coupes and spiders trade for well below new - they depreciate like any other car.

THanks to anyone who takes the time to educate me. My main concern is potential depreciation of a 360 spider with the new model relatively close at hand (especially if the new one turns out to be something I have to have!).
