This was the Ferrari Club UK link:

www.ferrariownersclub.co.uk/happenings/2003/may/sportscarguides.asp

Based on their sample page from a GTO, I don't know that the information isn't something that's readily available elsewhere anyway. Nicely formatted, though.

Rob

I am UK FOC member and FerrariChat memeber. I was on the FOC website when I came across the information I posted. I did not think I did any harm in posting the information to other Ferrari owners or potential owners. I understand from the UK FOC it was something new, not done before releasing a buyers guide for the Ferraris.
I have no affilaition with the information or site.

I will clarify some of the board policies pretty soon so we can minimize these misunderstandings.

Basically though, FerrarisAds.com is wide open. I allow anything and everything, even non-Ferrari ads. Only thing I delete are those "Work from home" type ads.

Besides that I will be happy to add anyone's link (if it's Ferrari related) to the links page free of charge.

Then I allow one free commercial post if permission was asked for as they may become a future sponsor.

Users can post whatever they want. As a user I'm always talking about how I like Norwoods service and I give out their number and address even though they don't sponsor FC.

That's another reason that Craig brought up, we don't want the board to be diluted with these commercial messages. It's hard enough to keep all the topics focused and at a quality level.

If someone wants to post the link again, that's fine.

I feel your pain Rob. I don't like being bombarded with adverts on discussion boards. I don't even have sponsors for my board and I still don't allow adverts. (Except in the Yard Sale forum and then each thread there gets the word "Advertisement" prefixed to the subject so that each and every member knows it's an advert before opening the thread.)

That post didn't feel like an advert to me but you know best. I guess I should have suspected something when the link was in there three times.

Sorry if I can across as a little harsh. I was just 'musing'. As often the case, the written word often doesn't convey the same meaning as when spoken directly face-to-face.

A link would of just been fine by a user. I would of never even noticed if even J R K just did that.

What's an Ad and what isn't is obvious, at least to me. If you were a sponsor how would you like others spaming the board for free?

Share it, don't advertise it. Just out smart me, it's not too hard.

This is a touchy and tricky subject. If I stumbled on to these documents and posted a link saying "hey guys check these out" would that have been ok?

So here's the question: Was it an Advert or a sharing of information?

Advertisement? Yes (I assume that J R K is affiliated with the seller of these documents). Sharing information? Yes as I doubt I would not have known about these if it wasn't posted here.

Wasn't free discussion, it was a commercial post without my permission. I actually allow companies to post a couple messages after asking permission so they can judge the response and possibly become a sponsor.

Have you ever seen me ever edit a post by a user that recommended or talked about a business? How about a business answering questions a user asks? No to both of those, a blatant ad like in this case yes. They just need to be smart about their free loading advertising.

Hmmm.....

I was wondering when this was going to happen. "Editing" content to suit the advertisers.

I can understand it from a practical standpoint, but it certainly can put a damper on free discussion. I suppose it's no longer proper to mention if a part is available at T.Rutlands?

Good introduction for the Ferrari novice. Buying tips will be really helpful for the first time buyer. Some of the buying tips apply to all Ferraris and some apply just to the 355.

Money amounts are in Sterling and measurements switch back and forth between metric and standard. More consistency in the use of systems would be better.

Price samples at the end will become dated quickly unless they are updated on a regular basis.

Overall a worthwhile product for first time buyers of a particular model. Reading it has my blood pumping for a 355.

Good work.
