Ben Lobenstein 90 TR (Benjet)

My thoughts would be that no proper words can describe the changes in sounds between stock and aftermarket exhausts on these magical machines (if a picture is worth 1000 words, the sound a million). With that said, my friend's 86TR has the stock mufflers but with precat and cats removed, his sounds "dry" almost raspy. My 90 TR has a no cat (pre or reg) 4 muffler, coated, Borla system, and I really love it. I'll let each ear form their own opinion, but like all other owners, I haven't had anyone dislike the sound of it one bit. The Borla is a very unique sound, very throaty, not at all like the stock or the Tubi.

i have a 93 512TR with clean cats & tubi & it sounds spectacular, Much better than stock which was just way too quiet. Its almost on the verge of too loud but what a concert :)
Every1 at the FCA & the rallys I have done loves the way it sounds.
I heard a 98 F1 car while at the Cavallino & our flat 12s will never scream like that, 16,000 rpm Vs 7500 rpm, but she makes me happy

ELI -- I put a used Tubi on my US version '91 TR, and it's a tad louder that stock at mid/high RPM -- but it's still too quiet at low RPM for my taste. Rob is right in that the upstream configuration of cats will make a big difference on the acoustics. (Assuming that you have a US version TR), if you want the loudest Tubi configuration replace both your precats and cats with some form of bypass pipes. I'm going to try just replacing the precats first (i.e., going to the CAT version TR -- cats but no precats).
If your precats and/or cats are in good working condition, I'd recommend that you not "clean them out" as they are very expensive -- it would be better to get some cheaper "substitutes" and save (or sell) your good precats/cats. I bought a pair of "bad" TR precats and cleaned those out, but then I decided to buy the actual (more expensive) Ferrari precat bypass pipes (PN 142166 and 142167). If you (or someone else) would like the pair of "cleaned out" TR precats I'd be glad to sell them for what I paid ($400 + shipping) -- let me know if you're interested.

Might be cheaper to clean out one your 2 cats if just looking for sound.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW A TUBI EXHAUST WILL SOUND LIKE ON AN 89 TR. DOES IT MAKE IT SOUND LIKE FORMULA CAR?
