Steve: Just thought of this. Since the location of the gearbox #s is right out in the open, facing down, you might be able to slide a big mirror under the car and see it.

Then remove the mirror and wipe the oil drips off of it.

I think you have to be registered to order parts from our sponsor Ferrari UK. If you don't want Ferrari parts for 25-75% less than most dealers, then that's your choice. :-)

Hi all. Correction re: the Rosso Ferrari magazine, I am getting it NOT bec. of the owner's site but bec. the dealer (Steve Harris-SLC) sent a registration card to FNA when I purchased the car thereby adding me to the latter's database. (THANKS AGAIN, SEAN!).

If you crawl under the car (this assumes that you are a LOT skinnier than I am), the gearbox model and serial # are real obvious. They're toward the very rear of the gearbox, on the pass side.

Ok on the engine number - but what's the GT4 gearbox number? First time I've been asked for THAT

The "Rosso Ferrari" magazine is owned by Ferrari North America, Inc. If they know you own a Ferrari, you will receive 2 copies a year.

Jay, click on "Vintage", then "Historic Archive", then "Heritage Certificate"

With many thanks to Hans Hansen, if you want a certificate for your GT4, write the engine type as: "F106A 040"

What is the Heritage Certificate? I haven't seen that. Ordering parts from Ferrari UK through the owners site is a dream! Next day delivery to North America!

Sites like this (FC) I think tend to be better than the Ferrari Owners site. Most the members on here know everything on that site and can also give their own experiences with their Ferraris which is far better and accurate, generally speaking. The PDFs are nice though

Gerrit,

I wasn't aware I would be getting one after I signed up at the owner's site. The only other club I joined was FCA; but I know they have publications other than the "Rosso" so I assumed it came from the former. It really came as a surprise to me.

I use the on-line parts catalog a lot. It's Ferrari UK, but I don't think you can reach the catalog w/o going thru the Owner's site.

Working w/ Ferrari when it comes to serial #s is a bit humorous. I registered with the site just fine, only supplying my chassis #. But I went thru holy hell trying to get the Heritage Certificate, which is a similar proceedure. Others have had the exact opposite experience - difficulty w/ registering, but Her Cert went right thru. Go figure.

I think it is a fantastic site - has information on new product before it's in the press e.g. Enzo and Challenge Stradale. Also has the spare parts interactive parts catalogues, which are great. Worth perservering with the registration IMHO.

I received a copy of the "Rosso Ferrari" magazine
3 months after registering from the site. I guess this is one of the benefits.

Clax -

I had problems getting registered too - took several attempts to get a response from them but it's worth perservering. If nothing else it gives you access to an excellent source of parts

I haven't found anything real useful yet. They do have owner manuals online in PDF. Kind of nice to have the online version so you don't have to go digging the printed version out of your car.

They cover F1 news from a heavily biased Ferrari angle. Challenge and Spa news is also available.

There is a nice virtual tour of the plant and coverage of the cars. There is also Ferrari merchandise.

It is all free for giving up your VIN. I was able to enter my VIN during the online process. They never requested I send my vehicle registration. Most likely because they could verify it themselves.

Is there any value in becoming a member of www.owners.ferrari.com? I filled out all the info that the site requested, then they emailed me a request for a faxed copy of my vehicle registration. At that point, I started to question how much I really wanted to even bother with this site, so I haven't sent it to them yet.

Any thoughts or experience with this? Worthwhile or a waste of time?
