Noel, Andreas and I will be there on the first. If you had fun at school, wait until you start racing--huge rush!

For those curious, Skip doesn't run the full 4-mile track because you're essentially eliminating the long main straight (don't learn much going straight!), and that allows more true lapping/learning.

Noel, If you are up for the 5/30-6/1 race at Road America look for me. I have been racing with Skip ~ 10 years and still loving it.

David S. -

I was there 5 years ago ( 3 weeks before my first child was born ) - The blind apex at the end of the long straight was was a blast ( yes, before they added the new turns ) - They told us to aim at the concrete support for the overhead walk way. At those speeds you would lose ALL traction until the car went over the top of the hill, then just in time the traction would return and you would have to drift back to the left to set up for the turn on to the short front. At wide open throttle to aiming at concrete to stairing at the grand stands, what fun.

I have not been back since then but I have watched some events on TV. The new turns require more skill but the old way made your pulse quicken.

we only did the short track which has the most twists and turns(2 mile). we didn't fly around the whole course until day 3.

i was flying into canada(the name for one of the turns), when a squirrel ran in front of me, i swerved to miss the little , he lived but i shorted my own life by a few years.

road america is in wisconsin for those who don't know. great track.

they would't let me take my 360 on the track, i asked:-(

Noel,

Could you email me at [email protected] when convenient? I'd like to ask you something about the school.

Thanks!

David C. How did you like doing the blind apex coming down the hill to the old pit entrance (outside if the track). Both you and Noel have sparked great memories of my Vintage Racing days. Pre Ferrari ownership. Have you driven Road Atlanta before they put the left, 2 right and left turn deviation coming back towards the old pit entrance?

Were you able to run the whole 4 mile circuit? In the Atlantics we were supposed to run the kink full out without any lift. After running for 6 years or so, it still made my mind quessey. Besides Watkins Glen and Mid Ohio, Road America is one fantastic track and beautiful scenery. I'm glad you had a great time. Also Road America was our fastest average speed track. We thought we werre really racing doing 2:15's+/- until we heard the Indy boys are near or in the 1:40's and 1:50's. Have you taken your 360 to Road America?

I did the 3 day at Road Atlanta - what a great experience. It really makes you a better and more confident driver. With the new found skill you will enjoy your F-car even more than before.

Do not overlook the fact that a lot of driving is effected by "physics". They spend time teaching these principals, its not all wheel time.

I highly recommend it.

Noel, where did you take the course at? Do they have their own track or do they go all over the country?

as a rule of thumb, it is basically $1000(or less) per day, whether it's the school or the race itself. if you think about it, that's cheap. the cars are very fun to drive.

What's the cost for the regional races? Are they per race or per season? Can you pick the ones you want? They don't have this information posted on their website.

I just finished Skip's 3 day racing school at Road America. It was a great time and I learned some great stuff. Also, getting involved in the Barber racing series is a lot cheaper than whaling on your ferrari at track events. I've never tracked my 360, but I tracked my 355, and it cost my more to do that than the whole Barber racing school plus a few races....highly recomended.
