the stradale was all over maranello as they were having a "press test" session before the delivery of the first car. one thing i found interesting was that several of the cars had normal 360 style side mirrors as the factory was short the newere carbon fiber style mirrors.

Doody: Those seats are the carbon fiber buckets covered in leather. I have the exact same seats in my current 360.

Jason: It's the angle of the shot. They don't really bulge out- look at the rear wheels. I have seen these wheels (BBS CH) on a couple of local cars.

I believe the figure of 900 cars is correct. Stradale production will be limited to a certain percentage of total 360 production until the new car is out- probably in 2005- that's how they arrived at that figure.

Judging from the Auto Bild article, in which they actually drove the car, the suspension is not overly firm for a street car and the exhaust sounds wicked. Excellent news. And the car looks fabulous without the stripe.

Can't wait!

One of the guys at Scuderia von Ruschenberg drove one last week somewhere in Europe. I didn't get to talk to him very long, but his two comments were: (a) the car feels very light and "tossable" and (b) the F1 shifter feels significantly quicker than a standard 360 F1, even when in sport mode. I can't wait to hear what the exhaust sounds like on this car... probably similar to a 360 Challenge.

It may just be the angle of the shot but if the wheels bulge out like they appear to in the second shot, they're going to be a major pain in the.....It's really easy to 'rim' wheels like that on curbs etc.

it will have AC. it does not appear to be a factory deletable option either.

remember - this is a street car first, and a track car second.

i do not believe that ferrari has said this is a limited production vehicle.

its volume of course will be limited by the switchover that occurs when the 360 goes out of production, and my understanding is that that is the limiting factor.

there's a PDF brochure you can download off the owners site that is very educational, albeit with some bad data on it (eg: the car weights "8,000 lbs"! - NOT.

i do not believe FNA has any final pricing just yet, though numbers like "low 180s" base have apparently been floating around.

the car in those pics looks like it has "regular" seats in it. i didn't think that was an option - it was either cloth or leather sport seats only.

doody.

This will be one hot car to get if that is a total amount....

Text from Auto Bild (German to English)

The secret more achievement, fewer weights racing for the road: The Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale offers the perfect compromise. Example for lightweight construction perfect compromise "a Ferrari one tunt not", stresses head of the company Luca di Montezemolo, if the language comes on refining its noble sports cars. Only against in-house changes it has obviously nothing. Because with the Challenge Stradale now offers Ferrari a Tuningmodell from own workshop. At first sight it looks like normal 360 Modena. But already opening the door betrays: Here a completely special Ferrari stands. Frame tunnel, body, seats, door boards? everywhere black carbon fiber shines. The Stradale is an example for lightweight construction. Chassis feathers/springs, connecting rods and wheel lugs are made of titanium. The Stradale brings only 1180 Kilos on the balance; 110 as a Modena, 200 less than the super-Porsche Carrera GT. the feather/spring weight with a red activate button is started less. As is the case for a running car. Nothing different one should be the aufgemotzte aluminum Zweituerer: a washgenuine competition car, a runway fright. The carbon ceramic(s) brake assembly is derived from the formula 1. Of also the exhaust reminds. It trompetet starting from 4000/min in such a manner uninhibited its "Forza!" fanfares from the four final pipes that with drive past at the Caf of the Espresso from the cups sloshes. How only could this exhaust system get a road permission? acoustic fireworks is a flap control system, which opens a bypass at higher numbers of revolutions and which stagnation pressure reduces. That cannot only be done on the ears, but brings also more HP in addition the compression was increased, channels and tax times optimized as well as the valve springs improved. The achievement of the four-litre central engine rises in such a way from 400 to 425 HP. With 118,5 HP per litre capacity is the Stradale the strongest eight-cylinder, the Ferrari ever into a road car built. That is to be felt. Particularly in the Race mode (switching tracing, traction control shortened part-deactivated, tauter absorbers). Acceleration, giving in behavior and balance are perfect. Professionals can switch the ASR off also completely. Nevertheless: Even in public traffic the light Ferrari makes a good figure. The suspension processes also bad highways still satisfying. A perfect compromise thus, which is Ferrari-typically not cheap: the Stradale costs 165,000 euro. Only 900 copies are built.

Nice pics.

The reverse t-bar is replaced by the "R" button on the center console, I believe. The auto mode in the standard 360 is worthless.
