Congrats, Jay. I love the GT4's, despite what some folks say. If a 308 hadn't fallen in my lap, I would have been in a GT4, once I learned about them! |

Many congradulations Jay. The GT4 is a sharp looking car and you seem to have gotten yourself a sweet deal. |

Mike: Yeah, I've seen GT4s that had bare, raw metal on the inside. But, get this, mine is completely painted on interior surfaces. The original owner claimed it came that way, - has never been painted or rust-proofed in any way since leaving the original selling dealer. I guess it all depended upon what Guido was doing that day. |

Lawrence, Those funky turned down exhaust tips were stock factory pipes on early USA version GT4's. Perhaps another reason that GT4's had a less than stellar acceptance among enthusists. They were later modified with faux straight tips in a factory update (one of many for the GT4). See Jim Perry's excellent GT4 site for more info. http://members.tripod.com/~ferrari308gt4/updates.html Jay, congrats on an excellent purchase. The GT4 is almost as simple a car as a muscle car so you shouldn't have any problem tackling it. The top three problem areas are rust, rust and rust. Most areas are fairly easy to access after some minor disassembly. They don't even have primer on the hidden metal so even consensation in areas such as a-pillars, under the quarter windows, rocker panels and fender tops can led to rust. Also, as in all 308s, the engine compartment insulation tends to hold moisture. |

Jay, congratulations! Fab car! I noticed the exhaust tips are not factory. It reminds me of an '84 Vette (pipes down) |

Hey guys, don't despair! I will own a v-12 Ferrari yet. I consider this an interim step, sort of like eloping in Vegas, as opposed to getting married in the church where your grandparents were married. It is the same thing superficially, but deep inside it's completely different. The price of this car enabled me to justify it for no other reason than, at the worst, I can sell it for 10K and lose 2 grand. I promise I have done worse. My wife, who is no dummy, has noticed the "Ferrari Buyers Guide" on my side of the bed. She has also noticed the 12 x 16 inch "V-12 Ferrari" coffee table book on the coffee table. So, about 3 months ago, I broke the news to her. I wanted a Ferrari. I showed a picture of a 330 GTC I was considering, and the first thing she said? "But it's not a convertible!". My momma don't raise no dummies, so I shut my mouth about then. This car will hopefully do fine until the 330GTS...... I am going to pick up the car in person, and it might be undocumented, but so is my gardener.(and maid) If I did well, I did well, if not, I will take a page from Bruno, who trades V12's like I trade Camaros, and move on.... Thanks again, Jay P.S. If I like it, I'm not gonna sell it even if I get a V12. |

Jay...Please excuse me for being negative...Congrats on the car! Its just sad when people buy a car that does does match expectations. For the price, I may have risked it for a project car. You will find a great deal of enthusiasm on this forum, even from sceptics like myself! Enjoy and happy posting |

at 12k I'd look at it and maybe try to get a ppi at the least before I pay him. The car can eat 10k easy. But congratulations |

I'm pretty sure that this same car was for sale on Ebay last August by a guy in Portland. I was the high bidder, and we exchanged a dozen emails about records that ended up being missing and some paint bubbling that he never got around to taking pictures of. You are buying it for substantially less than I intended to. If you haven't already, I'd ask the seller about the history of the car. Then again, I could be wrong. Brad |

Jay, We have a rule here. You get a car, you must show pic..and we don't mean E-bay pics... We need you to take loving pics with your camera the day that car is in your hands.. Big smiles are acceptable but not necessary.. Congrats pal and enjoy..... |

I have been here on and off for a while, and everyone here has been very patient with my questions. I have looked at several cars, and would like to single out Kerry Chesbro, Bruno, and Tom Shaughnessy for their kindness and respect helping some guy who may have never bought a Ferrari. I did not end up buying a front engine V-12, the right one has not been for sale near me so far this year. ( I am not sharp enough about Ferraris to buy them long distance yet, although I buy Musclecars sight unseen with confidence.) So what did I get?? How could I go wrong on this? (If you know, don't tell me!) Its got carburetors and it's red. What else could you want? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2415662494&category=6212 |
