As a tech with 31 yrs in this field (I did take a few yrs off doing the engnring thing, but came back to what I enjoyed more) with 25 yrs almost exclusively Ferrari, I have only run into a small hand full of true professional detailers. I think it is the lack of passion for the marque that disturbs me the most. Detailers come and go, and for many it is a part time job. When I am finished with a job, I want someone doing the detailing that takes the same pride in their work that I feel when i am doing mine. The F50 is a great example. This is a car that you cant just jump in with a buffer, as the carbon fiber texture shows through the paint. Kris tried many different products/techniques before SHE was satisfied with the results. I have watched Bill Agnew doing the same. Kris is not a prof. detailer, she is a mechanic, but the passion to do the best job possible is something the customer rarely see's, they just see the end result. Kris and Tom are at the race track this weekend, but Kris sent Tom off alone because she didnt want to be rushed on the job, and wanted to finish it her way. Thats a longggg drive to the Pueblo track alone, after a long day at work, but that is what she chose. If someone handed me a tooth brush, and told me to clean the under side of a car, well..... it just wouldnt happen with any degree of passion.
After all these yrs of comming home greasy, I still enjoy it, and I want a detailer that feels the same way.
Signed,
Just another putz playing in the dirt.

Gentlemen,

I perform detailing services to exterior finishes of sports cars including fcars. What was once a hobby as a car enthusiast, has turned into a word of mouth side job in my town of Fair Oaks, California. This post is interesting to me for the reason that distrust and poor quality are exerted from previous experiences, thus explaining a certain level of carfulness when selecting an auto detailer...especially with an fcar.

If I may ask, what are your concerns when allowing detail personel to handle your fcar?

For illustrative purposes, I included a link that shows a sample contrast in fcar's paint neglected and when correctly detailed. I chose the color black(most difficult color to keep clean) for both cars. The pics are self explanitory:

I have to add that Seniore Helms has quiet a reputation in Colorado. An A+ rep that is ;o)

Im the first to say I dont know squat about detailing, but I have Bill Agnew come up when I have a few cars lined up. Bill does incredible work! Just yesterday, Kris Ellis detailed the F50 when I was finished with it, and she did a wonderful job, considering the car is driven on DIRT ROADS quite a bit! Three, one gallon cans of gravel came out of the belly pan this time, but you would never know it now. The best paintless dent guy I have ever seen is right in the unit next door. On the paint issue, Im behind David all the way! When you happen to find talent in that field, let me know! The F50 goes home tomorrow at 11:00, I will be at the shop at 9:30 if you want to look it over.

David; I am well aware of Dave's talent, especially with my 348. I didn't even think to
ask if they did detail work.

Hey Dave --- my sincerest apologies, buddy!! I didn't realize your shop did detail work (scratches, polishing, cleaning, etc.).

Absolutely 'FABS', Dave's shop is the place to go for mechanical work on your F-car --- and it sounds like he does detail stuff now, as well. So, you should definitely check him out.

Unfortunately --- n/a

Nothing but problems with all the self-proclaimed "high-end" shops. I've got a horror story list that goes on forever. I'm sorry to say that Colorado is a 'black hole' for cars.

My advice, if it needs quality work, ship it out...

Signed,
A somewhat disgruntled Boulder resident...

Who's got the goods on a top notch detail shop
in this area? A place that exudes quality so on and so forth.
