The GT4 keeps alive a tradition that has been long abandoned - it has room for a riding mechanic.

Bottom line , the 308 GT/4 is a great car , i love how it looks eesp with the speedlines . Said to be an amazing handling car and 250 hp is not too shabby. 150 mph , 0-60 in 6.5sec , a nice sounding V8 ..what more do you want for 20/25 000$ ?

Hans / Frank: Thanks for the Dino lesson. I was unaware of the history (still learning!) :-)

Uh, Frank, you goofed this time. The 246 V6s were made by Fiat, but all the V8's are made by Ferrari. There are lots of vintage photos of the Ferrari factory machining and assembling V8 motors.

Frank the 308 GT4 has the same engine as the carb'd 308 FERRARI of the time. My Dino says FERRARI on the engine not FIAT and on the VIN plate. But then I know you are just trying to cause trouble! :-)

PeterS, since the 308GT4 came from the factory badged as a Dino and the VIN number designates it as a Dino and Enzo himself chose the name Dino after his late son, I have always considered the 308GT4 a Dino . But, some people believe that since they have changed the badging to Ferrari and call it a Ferrari everyday that somehow a Dino is now a Ferrari. Hey, since the 308GT4 engine was made by Fiat, I guess there is an F in a Dino .

There are no more Ferraris. Ferrari ceased to exist when they installed radios, since EVERYONE knows a real Ferrari doesn't have a radio. Dino's don't exist anymore either since ALL Dinos have carburetors.

How would a 308GT4 Dino be a second "FCar". Around these parts Dino starts with a "D" not an "F"? In fact, there is not an "F" in Dino anywhere.

ive owned several gt4's over the years.at 6'3 the extra room was a blessing and many considered it better handling than a gtb/gts.as stated ealier rust was common especially the doors.the early cars also were known for electrical gremlins.the seriesIII(1978)cars were much better sorted and had the sliding sunroof and better a/c.the price you mentioned for is high for a 'nice' car but fair if its a extremely clean example here in los angeles.

In addition to the mechanicals, rust is an important factor in GT4 value.

Jordan, you spent hours in the back seat? What are you, made of rubber?

Peter, $18K is typical of a car that has over 50K miles, #2 condition paint, some wear in the leather, an engine that probably does not have the smog equipment (or if it does, is not working) and missing the tool/jack kits. If it had the belt job done and the engine runs fine it'll make a good daily runner (better if it has some form of electronic ignition installed. Makes life easier...).

Ive had the opportunity to ride in an Fchatters GT4 all around the LA area for hours at a time and even though I was stuck in the back seat, it was a really comfortable and pleasant ride. Not the mention the sound of the car was just gorgeous!

Peter,

I suggest you drive one to see if it's something you want to keep and enjoy.

Personaly I love driving GT4's, as they handle better, and have a much more comfortable driving position. And tuned properly they run great. The telling tale of GT4's might be that most have higher mileage (average for age really) which means the cars were being driven alot and enjoyed. Also, most GT4 owners kept/keep their cars for 10-15 on average and many even longer...not so with most other models.

Why would you consider this car as a second Fcar if you are not a real fan of hard tops. Just for the price?

In Ferrariads.com, there is a '75 308GT4 Dino for $18.8K. I'm in the market for a second FCar. Not a real fan of hard tops, I could live with the car for the price (and probably enjoy it!). Is the asking price reasonable for this year and model? Being a 308GTS nut, I do not know how popular these styles are and if in as good a condition as the ad states, is it a decent value?
