Carroll was a great guy and a good friend. He spent Easter with me and my family several years ago when we organized the GT40 reunion. My best wishes to his wife "Lady Jane" and son Chris. A real American hero who flew an A1 Skyrader for the USN.

Was very sad to hear that Carroll passed away. I was driving in the 1993 Toyota Atlantic race at the Long Beach GP and was having problems with car set up. Carroll actually helped me and my crew chief get a better handle on the car that weekend. Pretty nice of him since his son Chris was competing in the same race with me. He was a class guy.

I never had the chance to thank him. His books were a tremendous help when I first got into racing and I still use them today. When asked by people wanting to become involved in racing what to read, I tell them to start buying every book Carroll Smith ever wrote and read them from cover to cover again and again.

His books will live on forever. Rest in peace Carroll and thank you.

That's very sad. What an ICON he is. I have all his books, wouldn't be without them.
