Thanks for all of the input. I have bought a battery tender and it seems to be working fine. The Optima is another idea I was kicking around. I use them in my off road vehicles and they are great. The interstate that the dealer put in barely holds a charge. Thanks again |

I've had an Optima Red Top since October... it's been perfect, haven't had to trickle charge it even once. This thread caused me to email Optima about charging the Red Top (in the event it may be required in the future).... here was their reply: The Red Top can be trickle charged. The charging parameters should be between 13.2 - 13.8 volts, 1 amp maximum current. Thank you for your continued support and interest in Optima Batteries. The 355 has a point for charging/jumping in the engine compartment. it is easily accessed by the right rear shock top. |

The optima batteries, red & yellow tops, are VRLA type. (Valve regulated lead acid) Maintenance and charging schedules are the same as regular vented lead acid types. |

NGSVDO...One thing to consider would be a dry cell battery such as an Optima (red or orange). Earlier this year, I was in the process of moving from VA to FL. As a result, I was only able to see my F-car every 4-5 weeks until it was finally shipped to FL. Even after sitting for 4-5 weeks, on the first turn of the key, she fired right up. The down-side of dry cell batteries however is that you shouldn't attach trickle chargers to them. |

I use the "Batterytender" also on all the vehicles. I bought some extra leads and connected them to each of the car batteries. Then I just rotate the "tender" weekly from car to car, and it keeps the batteries fully charged and ready. Especially nice for the 308 since the connection lead is kept tucked under the spare tire, and all I have to do is plug in the "tender" when I want to charge it (usually fully charged overnight). |

Any one amp motorcycle charger will work just fine. I have used the same one for 15 years and I alternate it between my cars and lawnmower. No need to invest in an elaborate machine. |

Battery Tender seems to be one of the favorites. www.batterytender.com Look at the "On Board" model.... it's fully automatic. Just hide the cord and plug it in. |

What is the best trickle charger to install on a 355? My battery is always dying and I am getting tired of removing the wheel well to charge it back up. TIA Nick |
