Dave

I'm with Aon, been with them for 7 years, renewal due in July so it'll be interesting to see what they offer. I got a good price from Tesco's last year with unlimited mileage but stuck with Aon as I have other cars with them

Carl, I already told them what I thought about it when on the phone so I don't think I'll waste my time ringing again, can't see them knocking that much off the asking price and I prefer to give business to the guy who was 'real' in the first instance, I dont give the opportunity for the one who's mucked me about to match it.

Dave,
Reconsider contacting the agent. Wouldn't it be sweet justice to have him bust his ass to get you a great rate, and you can tell him no! I live in Austin, Texas, so right now insurance is a , both car and home. After 14 years with the same company, I won't mention them by name, only that they sell to farmers, my rates suddenly doubled, and I had to raise hell to get ANY discount, and had to send them packing anyway. By getting back with the client manager, you're giving them feedback, i.e. thier rates and policies stink!

I took insurance through AON for my first year of F car ownership (Talacrest recommendation). The policy has just come up for renewal and with no increase in risk on my part (I have made no claims, no accidents and no speed or other offences, clean licence) they wanted more than 50% extra! This with the car probably (definitely) having a reduced value.

Their reasoning was that they are now dealing with a new company and some policies are increased (I expect all) some are decreased (I doubt it).

I have been caught like this before with my motorcycle, they get you onboard for the first year as a new owner/policyholder by an artificially depressed premium, only to jack the premium when it comes to renewal time...the practice stinks.

Anyhow, I have secured a policy that is only a few pounds more than my INITIAL year AON policy 'and' it includes commuting to place of permanent work, which to my annoyance the AOL policy never did!

BTW, the AON client manager suggested I come back to him if I better his renewal quote and he will see what he can do, to respond to this suggestion would be extremely rude so I won't!
