LOL, Edward ... only had my 308 for roughly 6 months and the "Receipts" folder is already getting thick. |

If I wrote down everything I have done to my car it would make "War and Peace" look like a "Cliff Note". |

I log oil changes and tranny oil check (slow leak) on a chart in the garage. All recipts go in a folder. I don't care to add them up. |

P.S. I haven't totalled up the costs either, just keep stuffing the reciepts in a large brown envelope... Getting pretty thick. |

I keep all reciepts and on a notepad, I write down date/mileage, general maintenance (fluid changes, adjustments), or, type of failure, repairs, and parts used. Anything that I did to the car is documented. I even mark down gas purchases with their reciepts. I do this for my daily driver as well. |

I have a ridiculous thick file of Ferrari part expenditures, receipts, shipping papers, etc. I don't write down when I do everything though. Actually I don't keep a log at all, just all the receipts, which include things like filters, oil, etc so I guess I could tally them with a little work...but who wants to do work. |

Marq I'm interersted in that. Where did you get it? I've never heard of it. I'm just starting my restoration so now is the time to set this up. |

Greg: I use a wonderful program called "CarCare". It gives you a format into which you can enter maintenance performed either by you or by a shop. It also offers maintenance reminders that you can set up to be triggered by mileage or by time. There are areas for part #'s, parts prices, labor time spent, oil/fuel used, etc. You can also upload/scan receipts so you don't have to waste time searching through that helter-skelter folder or shoebox for a receipt or part number you're trying to find. I enter absolutely everything I do or have the shop do to my Ferrari, oftimes with an accompanying photo(it will accept photos too) if its a repair I want to document. You can print out the entire maintenance history in a very nice format if/when you desire. I've even entered such minute repairs as replacing the snaps on the targa stowage cover. I use this program for a simple purpose, to have a complete/clear/concise record of everything that has been done to the car while in my ownership; whether done by me or the Ferrari dealer. I downloaded the program and used it free for 60 days, then purchased it after that. If it sounds like what you're looking for, lemme know and I'll get the info for ya. PS.it takes a little time to enter everything initially to set up the program for your specific car; but then again...I have too much time on my hands...

Exactly Bob, On toy cars you put the receipts in a box but never add them up. I know the feeling of "ignoring the box". |

I set up a flow chart with fields for description, km's, hours and price and it keeps a running total for me. My wife insisted we know how much money we sink into the car... Which I guess could be a good thing. |

The main rule for toy car receipts is , keep them all never add up. I also keep all papers in a folder with the mileage and what I did. |

I have a folder that I keep along with my other papers that I keep receipts for parts that I have purchased. I do not write down oil changes. I just like to keep tabs on all my parts expenditures then read them and total them up on occasion and have a good cry. |

I was wondering how many keep records if they do the work yourself. I know to keep the receipts and write down the mileage and the date but what about other items. Such as work that doesn't require parts etc. There are many things that I do that I never write and that I have seen many shops write in work orders. Does anyone have a program that can be setup to write in hours, etc. Any info would be appreciated. Plus it seems that it is almost frowned upon in resale terms. Many always speak of records but they always want to see Ferrari of ? and this doesn't make sense. Also it seems that people are willing to pay more for records from Ferrari dealers etc. I personally would rather buy a car from an avid DIYer. Thanks. |
