True, and it sure doesn't run like an Fcar.

Their copying dates back to WWII as far as I can think. There most famous (maybe infamous) plane, the Mitsubishi Zero is a knock off of Howard Hughes 1930s race plane. They apparently stole the plans from it and worked from there, which is why it was so fast (nothing really matched it til the P51 came out, maybe the P38 too but a little different) and had armor comparable to tissue paper.

Let me show you what I have noticed.
The Hyundai XG 350 front.

The Lincoln LS front.

The Hyundai XG 350 rear.

The Bentley Arnage T rear.

I will have to say that the Hyundai XG 350 is not a Lincoln or a Bentley but for the money it is a nice looking car.

Mazda's RX7 is possibly the most dissappointing model I have seen yet..the car could pass for a ferrari in the eyes of the eneducated but it completly lackes in the engine department as well as wheels allowed on the car.. the toyota celica might look a 360 from a distance but the 360 is a lot rounder and a lot wider and lower..the celica is like a box..

my 2 cents

I have heard a lot of people say that the second generation MR2 looked like a mini Ferrari also. Japan is famous for copying designs. The did it a lot in WWII. I think they make sedans that look similar to MB also.

I think Fred is right. There have been numerous occasions when I have had to take a second look at a new Celica, believing it was a 360. This usually happens when I see the front of the car from a distance.

Bret,

I agree, the Porsche 924/944 model spawned a plethora Japanese clones in the following years (mazda Rx7, celica/supra)

You gotta admit the GTV6 Tiburon for $17999 is not a bad price plus a great warranty. How the hell did we get here talking about Hyundais?

Pininfarina has designed for quite a few besides Ferrari. Remember those Cadillacs (Allante maybe?) that had the bodies flown over from Pininfarina and then put on the US built frame, engine, etc.
The japs always knock off the Americans and Europeans. All of their most notable cars are knock offs of another car made by usually the Germans or Italians.

The first Hyundais that were sold here were a huge POS that gave immense problems especially transmission and computer failures. I did not expect them to survive but it seems that they have corrected their early mistakes without too much bad press and just might make it after all. They still cannot keep Dealerships too long though. They come and go.

Yes they are Korean. This is the new Tibouron and it has 181 hp with a DOHC V6. It also comes with an optional 6 speed manual and 17" rims! Not bad, but I still wouldn't buy one. I'm looking at the ad on the back of FHM magazine and it gives the web site: www.hyundaiusa.com

What do they cost? Is Hyundia the company that is pushing the 100,000 mile warrenty for all its new cars and trucks?

Car could out price, style, and win the all important quality catagory... amoung the imports. Toyota and Honda, who are no longer the new kids in the industry. Sort of a dose of "What goes around, comes around".

Check out the Hyundai, obviously taken styling cues from the 456 and 550. What does everyone think?
