The leak it forward of the header shield so a fire is unlikely. I don't want to spend the money unless I have to ,but, I don't want to cause a bigger problem either. |

Frank, If the oil is seeping onto the exhaust system then it could cause a fire. Check to make sure it isn't. If it is then I would pay to have it repaired. Dan |

The left side cam seal on my 348 is seaping oil. Not enough to affect the oil level or to leave a spot on my garage floor. But,you do notice it if you look at the frame rail just below the cam seal boss. A major/engine out service was done in June 2000. The dealer said to replace the cam seal would require engine removal at a cost of over three grand. My question : Can I just leave it as is until the next major service in three years or so or should I pay the three grand to have it done now ? |
