I too always felt Rolls should play up (wrong word, maybe just incorporate or imbibe.) more of the airplane/aircraft motif and sexiness-of-design (hey, it's after midnight :-) into their automobiles than they do even now.

Something I've always wanted to do in an automobile is a complete, 100% glass roof. That would be just amazing at night at speed. Could be done with modern chassis design and composite/laminate glass/polymers. Lquid crystals could turn it opaque, or tinted, during the day if desired.

Hey, anyone at Rolls need some design&technology consultation? <here's> lol ;)

Best!
Ben.

For what it's worth, Graham is a stand-up guy. I've had pleasant experiences, none of which directly resulted in a sale, I should add.

I have no idea of all the option avaliable yet. They have not given us parts guys any info on the car, so call to the sales dept, talk to Graham Pike, and he can answer the questions for you. He can also answer any questions regarding the start of the thread, the F50. 408-354-4000

p.s.---Sorry about the name, It has been Fixed!!

Regarding first class seats, yes, I have been in first class plenty of times (every time someone else is footing the bill!) and that's my point. They are not big, overstuffed sofas.

They are sleek, modern, artistically designed and well-engineered "devices" that cosset you. I didn't get the same impression with the Phantom's seats.

Rich, Red, Matt,
get your own logins! And please note the spelling of my name.

Is there an electrochromatic glass roof option? If so, I might have a possible sale for you, although I think the car is already on its way to the Republic of Georgia.

Faisal---
This is Rich BTW, Not Matt.....in regards to the seats...I think they did touch a bit fo the airplane history...ever sit in first class seats....JK!! There are a TON of options avaliable when ordering the car, YOU get to chose what options, and many of what you said, are avaliable.

Andrew, that is one of our salesman's 275's that he has had for years, bought it before he started with us.

Hi Matt,
I was speaking in relative terms. For such a large car, the interior seats are too large and occupy too much space. In addition to making it appear cramped (not saying it IS cramped, just that it SEEMS so), they will dwarf most seat occupants. Ever sat in a giant sofa?

Despite the overpowering seats, the rear is indeed roomy. But very plain. Too plain, in my opinion. I feel Rolls Royce should add some distinguishing touches, such as a beautiful clock like the old Phantoms used to have in the B pillars, custom information display, second blacked out panes that also operate electrically, giant glass sunroof, aircraft style air-conditioning vents, lighting options, etc. etc. In fact, I think Rolls Royce should make more of a connection to its aircraft engineering heritage, possibly turbine motifs in the switchgear, compartment access latches made of brushed aluminium, etc.

I have not driven one either, but I am aware that it has prodigious amounts of power. No complaints there, although I think a car like this should be tested with a full complement of armour (and the corresponding weight and performance penalties). Several of my friends are getting them, and they all intend to get kevlar bullet-proofing, etc.

I know the F50 you are selling is not the F50 GT that was crashed. I don't think anyone here said that it was.

Rgds,
Faisal.

Faisal--
That car you saw is an early example that we are storing for RR until the PB Concorse. As well, the interior is not cramped at all, very spacious in the back and front for that matter. And power...for a car with 31" tall tires, it moves along the motorways very efficently. I have not driven it yet, but I have been in the back of one on the road, and it is very fast for its size.

Matt--
The F50 is not the same as the Gt-1 that crashed. That has been shipped back to the factory.

The Roller definitely has a lot of road presence. It is fairly massive, and it's giant 20" wheels with the high-profile tyres make it very ummm "agrarian", no, plutocratic would be more appropriate. The front gun-slit lights work much better than I expected, but they're still a bit wierd. The rest of the car's sills, angles, proportions, etc. were good. Even the back does not taper as much as the pictures make it appear to.

I was very surprised at how cramped its interior looked. The front seats are too big and dominate the space too much, I think. The center console is completely swallowed up. And both the center console and the front dash panels are pretty uninspiring. There are acres of burled wood trim, but there's no accents or highlights to make it unique or visually arresting. I know the car is not about glitz, but it shouldn't be quite so staid in my opinion. And there's a lot of mixing 'n matching going on with some buttons chromed, others in black, all sorts of colors, and plastic stalks.

The rear is ok, but simply insipid. Nothing to catch the eye and inspire the senses. Very regular and saloon-like. Not even a pretty clockface on the side like the old Rollers.

I also noticed a couple of paint imperfections. And a poor shutline on one side of the trunk, although it can probably be adjusted. But it's unforgiveable in this car.

If you could combine a Rolls exterior with a Maybach's sleek interior, you'd have the ultimate uber-mobile.

What, am I going to Long's? No. Who is singing that song? The one that goes ding-dong, ding-dong. I bet you it's my buddy Fong - you know, the one with the gong. To beat that thing you gotta be strong. Then again, he does hit the bong. :-)

Err, I better stop before I say schl***

Incidentally, I did see this F50 there last week, getting detailed. There were also a couple of Rolls Royce Phantoms and an Aston Vanquish there.

I don't think I'd buy an F40 with 300miles, probally has all kinds of problems.

Thanks Red (Los)- Price range for F-40's 275-350k. At Barrett-Jackson I believe Reggie Jacksons 300 mile car was bid to 350k with a buyers premium of 8% and he turned it away. Shelton has an F-40 1000 mile car for 350k if my memory serves me correctly

p8ge - I have seen F40's from 300K-400K and lately the F50's seem to be in the 600K-700K range, though I think that is a bit steep. Keep in mind these are asking prices and not sale prices.
