I have a 348 spider and I often wish I had the back seat of the Mondial-t for my kids. Hmmm, maybe a trade is in the near future.

Daniel, need to let you know that my 89 Mondial t Coupe has brought me great driving pleasure for my first Ferrari. Bought it 18 months ago and put on 17k miles with no problems. I had it judged at the 2001 Concourso Italiano and got a Platinum award. The Mondial t Coupe would be a car to consider. Drive one and you be the judge.

Heath;
I do not differ on you that the Mondial will become a classic, but today it is not. Prices still dropped until a year or so ago. So the car will eventually turn around. There is not much that you can drive as a full convertible and that has the heat at the M;ondial Conv.

The T is the more moden and more advanced engine. Yes, maintenance is not as cheap and most you can not do yourself. I just dropped my 348 a few minutes ago at my mechanic for the 30K inspection. The engine has to come out for the belts.

Yes there are more gizmos but that is the case with every car that comes refined from the factory. Live and learn. Ferrari does that too.

Hope you guys did not feel that I was putting the Mondial down. I almost bought one myself a few years back becasue of the back seats and the classic looks.

I personally think the T is the better engine than the QV, thats all.

Hey Dan, check out the Gunmetal Blue '84 Mondial Cab QV @ www.fantasyjunction.com . It belongs to a friend of my brothers and is supposed to be a nice car. I have some more info on it, email me if you're interested.

I have a QV Cab. I prefer the looks of the 3.2 to both the T and my car. I have hauled 4 adults (not linebackers) around town and the car still gets out and goes. The T is newer, faster and more refined, but it has more gizmos to break, is harder to service and will cost more to fix. I would get a creampuff 3.2 over a rough T any day.

Daniel, those are terrific cars. The coupes are some of the nicest Ferraris to drive because of their longer wheelbase. The Mondial t coupes are rather rare, there is one on ebay right now. A nice medium mileage Mondial 3.2 coupe should cost from $28-$35,000 and a Mondial t coupe with medium mileage should cost $33-$40,000. Obviously the 3.4 will have a bit more ummphff, but both the cars will get up and haul butt nicely. Fit them with some test pipes and or some Tubis (Call Nick Scianna) and they sound magnificent. Parts are pretty much easy to find, and they are very reliable cars. Please be sure that the car has had its appropriate services at the correct intervals by trained technicians. Be sure the car has its books and records. Otherwise, make sure you poppa drives that car! They just love to be driven. I have always loved the Mondial, and its a great time to buy them too. If you have any questions, by all means let me know. I'd be happy to help out.

Great Advice, keep it coming! I'm looking for the proper car for my Dad, not paying for it, comments on pricing would be of interest to him. He is still recovering from expensive children

I beg to differ with you on a couple of points on the Mondial.
1. I feel the Mondial Cab. will ecome a classic because of the beauty of the design.
2. The 3 liter and the 3.2 liter engins are mounted transversley. Meaning you do not have to drop the engin to change timming belts. Of great concern to thoughs of us who prefer to maintain our own machines.
3.With the addition of the rear seating this Ferrari becomes functional as Daily driver or touring Ferrari. I can carry luggage, grocerys,Golfclubs etc.
4.The Mondial has a History of being a dependable Ferrari that is a pure pleasure to drive.
You add up all the plus points and you have to come to the came decission as I did a couple of years ago when I started my search for my Dream Car.
Yes their are faster cars in the Ferrari line but not better looking easily mantained or more functional for under a $100000.00.

Heath

Thanks,

I have this great book and forgot it had Mondials in it. Definitely THE book to have for V8 owners.

THE BOOK sais also that there are other chages made in the T model and that would make me buy that car as well.

That is THE BOOK for all V8 drivers to have. It is the most detailed book you can find. I wanted to post this since about a month and recommend this book. All you 308ers out there, that is where youc an see the difference.

Dan, to your problem. I would go with a T. There is no advantage in going with the 3.2. The MOndial is not a classic and the 3.2 does not have any advantages over the 3.4. When you buy a 308 GTi or GT1qv different story. The qv is the better engine compared to the 2v.

On the MOndial I'd opt for the more modern engine.

Nice son! I am in a similar boat and have been doing a little research on the spec side (the user stuff is what has me hanging out here). Go pick up a book called "Original Ferrari V8 - The Restorers Guide to all models 1974-1994". They have a blow by blow of what was in each model and you can compare.

I am looking for a mondial coupe for my dad. What are the strengths and weaknesses of each? How much to pay?

What about the tried and true 3.2 engine vs the 348 engine?

Thanks (it'll be fun to have another Ferrari in the family)

Dan
