Just a suggestion, if/when you go vB... try to get the thread preview (where you mouse over the thread title and get the first 10 lines or so... Also, try to keep the same font/color scheme if you can. I really like this, and think that it sets the site apart. The normal blue/gray vB theme wouldn't go well with the site, I think. |

No, vB is still several months down the road. I'm waiting for their 3.0 to come out. I like some of their new features, but may or may not switch. I've really been impressed with how Kevin from Discusware has helped us. He's answered any question I've ever had within a couple hours. He logged in to our server and worked on the archives for almost 2 hours last night. Now that's personalized service. He's a small IT shop and there's many benfits to having that. Although vB is attractive because of the advanced features and it's more Db driven, so more scalable. All the problems I've had with DW have just been the pure size of our board. However, like the stuff this week Kevin pointed out several ways to improve the performance and they've worked. Kevin treats us really well, he actually has FC at the top of his marketing page list. 5,000!!! |

I'm not done making the improvements yet, but it's started. The GFD archives are now in another main page at the bottom and TQ&A will be going down there early next week. We still have some rogue processes eating up memory now and then, but at least I know how to identify them and get rid of them. Eventually I'll find the root cause so they never come back, but that's just typical day to day operations for administrating the system. Monday I will also be updating to the latest version of this software and that will help a little too. I'm looking out for y'all, you drive fast cars, so you expect a fast site! |
