Not true. Catalysts are there to comply with Federally mandated exhaust emissions requirements. Keep them on to keep the environment cleaner.

p, it's actually not that loud inside the car especially when the windows are up....it's much more engine sound that it is exhaust. Doesnt resonate much at all.

hmm..thanks for your replies. My exhaust is Kidaspecial- a Japanese manufacturer who prides himself (apparently) on making F-cars sound as much like the F1 cars as possible- so possibly he's taking things a little too far. It does seem quite a bit louder than my Friends MS exhaust. This problem only seems to occur after extensive driving- i.e. 3-4hrs , all reasonably hard driving too. Guys at the shop are saying this is the issue. I'll report in again when I have the car back with cats in and give you an update. If still an issue I guess its an engine problem. Will keep you posted. Once again much appreciated feedback. Mike.

Ricky, I know. I want to save my cats and give my headers as much reilef as possible. My 1998 is under an 8 year Fed warranty so I guess it is less critical.

I LOVE the way the Tubi with the Cats of sound. I was only worried of resonation on long trips with the top down??

did the exhaust and test pipes at once...my car is a '95 so they are louder to begin with...it's loud but i love it...it absolutely screams at WOT...i did the test pipes though less for the sound and more for the relief of heat effect on the headers/exhaust manifolds...

Ricky, I have the Tubi muffler, and I have the test pipes (test pipes not yet installed). Did you do yours together or in 2 stages. If in 2 stages how much did the noise level go up while cruising and when you are really on it???

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere before- I have tried searching but to no avail. I own a 355s with currently straight-thru after-mkt sports exhaust. Whilst the car does sound fantastic, after driving the car hard for a couple of hours solid the sound and performance become suspect. I've been told that I need to reinsert the catalytic converters to manage exhaust temperature. Does anyone have experience with this, or anywhere they can point me for advice?
Appreciated.
