I did the full upgraded system in my 360 Spider costing over $5000. I do not have subwoofers. Though the sound is substantially better than the factory system I would not recommend the upgrade.

I rarely drive my car without the top down. I have Tubi exhaust and between the exhaust note and open air driving you really cannot tell the difference in sound systems. To enjoy turn the volume knob to loud and that is it.

Save your money.

Morrie, I think so. I traded in my car to the local dealer in Long Island and they sold it to Algar.

Eli

I dont know if it was your car or not, but Algar just bought a 360 with exact same system as in your pictures. 2000 6 speed. I listened to it, sounded great.

Mark, i have been fortunate to have had an unbelievable sound systems on both my F355 and 360 when i bought them from the previous owners. I enjoyed them immensely and would strongly suggest it. I am getting my new 03 360 next week which has the fact sub woofer and i can let you know how they are.Upload

The standard system on my 360 spider isn't that bad and actually pretty good in my view especially if you use "bright, loud" type CD's for top down running (no soft classical stuff). I truly love my Tubi sound but the 500 mile run to the Glen without tunes or news would be awful. I use it as daily driver and track car averaging about 900 miles/month.

Ben,

Agreed. i like what McLaren did with their F1 road car as they used a special, lightweight Kenwood mobile audio system. No fan of Kenwood here, yet they took the effort to make the system integrate well and lighter weight than normal stereo system. Of course it took me WEEKS to realize the 308 here has a stereo, but sounds like rubbish. The custom exhuast does far better to my audiophile ears. May as well take it out and save the weight once i get into the doors to lube the windows.

Enjoy the Drive,

hear hear, bobafett.

if you're commuting to work an hour each day in your f-car you're likely to eventually appreciate a nice audio system.

that said, i'm not so certain it's worth any sort of investment in a drop-top unless you generally drive with the top up.

doody.

I guess I am in the minority here. I had all the speakers pulled and replaced with MB Quartz, changed the head unit to a Sony with steering wheel remote, and put a sub box in with 3 8" JL Audio woofers, it sounds pretty amazing. Then I had a GHL exhaust installed, now most of time I just love to listen to the sound of the exhaust.

I ordered mine with the hi-fi system. It sounded really great. Massive base, and the radio automatically boosts the volume up and down based on wind noise. I listened to the radio at full pop with the car reving to 8 grand. The hi-fi with subwoofer is a great sound but the subwoofer itself adds very little to the sound. I wish you could get the hi-fi option with no sub woofer, it takes up too much space and looks kind of over kill for what it puts out. The real sound comes out of the door speakers. All in all I would order the hi-fi option again.

My 2c worth is that the amount of road time a Ferrari gets, where you are not concerned about avoiding the idiots around you gawking at the car, is pretty small.
I went all out with a ridiculously priced system in my first Ferrari twenty years ago, which was never used. Since then I honestly don't even know how to use the systems in my current cars. If they get AM so I can get traffic reports I'm good.

Ben hit the nail on the head. And the ambivalence has an answer: daily driver vs. weekend car.

It has a stereo?

Best!
Ben.

PS: in all seriousness, if you're an audiophile like me, the stock system is not worth the weight it adds to the car. YOu will need to go full aftermarket (and CAREFULLY, there's so much crap out there, avoid subwoffers, your car calls for a true musically accurate sound system if you are going to do it at all.) no automobile today needs more than good 8" kevlar woofers to achive true accurate sound (as the car's low volume gives about a 6db/oct bonous responce curve.)

Part of me says Ferraris should have no radio/system at all, and another part of me says they should have a really stunning, accurate, musical, lightweight, delightful stereo worthy of their romance and quality.

In the 2+ years I've owned my 360, I've only used the stereo probably 4 times. I like to listen to the engine while driving the Ferrari. :-)

But seriously, the basic Becker system in the 360 is okay.

What is the musical quality of the basic 360 hifi system like?

How much better does it sound with the factory sub woofer system?

Has anyone done a real bespoke hifi system in their car, and if so what did you use and who did the work?
