Robert, good point. The first time I inched my car onto my driveway it sounded like half of the car would be destroyed. Upon examination it just scraped the "nostrils". No damage. This is where the skid plates come in. They are aircraft grade nylon and they seem to slip across rough obstacles. Get them, you will need them. You will see. |

Jon, Just forget about it! No matter what you do or how carefull you are you're going to scrap the nose of the car. But, hey, it's only a car |

Jon, here it is: John at (508) 238-4224. He has a 355 Challenge car and has them on his car as well. He owns/runs a repair shop as well. Best of luck. P. |

John, I could measure, but as discussed in previous threads: it is not only the height, it is the overhang. My driveway is fairly steep and I can get in and out pretty easily. The trick is to approach it at a VERY sharp angle. Then literally creep as you move past the lowest point with your car. Also, I just purchased a set of skid plates ($125 for the pair) and install in minutes. It also avoids the obnoxious scraping noise (sounds a lot worse then it is) as you try to negotiate this nearly non-navigable suburban obstacles. Let me know I will give you the name and number of the gentlemant that sells them.

I am getting my f355b this week, but am concerned about getting it up my driveway. I borrowed my friends 550 last week and it cleared on an angle by about 1/2 inch. Does anyone know the exact clearance from ground to lowest point of the nose on the 355. I know that the distance from the middle of the wheel to the front is also an issue, but I think the 550 has a longer nose. Any help is appreciated. |
