Thanks... it does make sense to design it this way for racing. This is one more thing I like about the Ferrari. It's one more thing that says that Ferraris are made for tracks and not city driving. No friendly driving amenities with these cars. I Love It! |

Craig it's the original layout for a 5 speed racing box and is determined as a 'dog leg 1st', 1st was generally only ever used to get you off the grid so essentially you're right as it's designed for easier use of the other gears that you are more likely to use when racing. |

1st is basically just to get the car rolling, and 2-5 are 'road' gears. A bit of a PITA for city driving, but works splendidly on the open road. |

What is with the shift pattern anyway? R 2 4 1 3 5 The logical answer I think would be... it is easier to shift while racing since there is a lot of 2nd to 3rd shifting in road racing. I'm I close? Or is this just an Italian thing?
