Mine is a '83 GTB QV. And here I was a little bummed it wasn't a GTS (especially on hot days since the A/C isn't that great). But I love her anyway

OK, it's not a QV, but still a GTB. Don't see them for sale all too often. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2417654989&category=6212 |

A very nice 1984 308QV GTB Red/Tan, ~20K miles sold on E-Bay about 2-months ago. I talked to the owner and he had all the records, receipts, books, tools, 3rd Owner, etc. It was a very nice car. Auction ended at $35K and "reserve met". |

Ken, I was fortunate enough to own one of these babies and did some research. They are hiding in Europe. In the US, there are clearly fewer than 100, maybe as few as 50. and many are Euros. They also seemed to get driven alot, many of those I saw advertised had very high mileage. Also, many were made into track cars, or worse made to look like 288 GTO's. All in all, a nice, original example is a great find in the US. Everyone wanted to be Magnum PI. Having had both a GTS and a GTB, I can say the GTB is a MUCH MUCH better car. Dave |

Originally I wanted a GTB as I think its lines are a lot nicer than the GTS, also stiffer for tracking. I was looking for one for a long time, but never found one I liked, so I gave up and got a GTS instead. I folled Mike Charness (a fellow F Chatter) lead and had the roof painted and the louvres custom made to fit the GTB look (also helped a good deal with rearward visibility). Obviously a matter of personal preference, but now I think I got the best of both worlds and if I ever cared I could even reverse the process. Check my profile, from a distance it looks like a GTB. And the louvres always cause a nice starting point for a conversation among enthusiasts. |

Ken, I agree with wm hart, more Euro GTBs were made. Robert Retzlaff's 308 GTB Register site has some production and serial number information which demonstrate that: http://www.r-design.net/308/production.htm http://www.r-design.net/308/serialnumbers.htm Barry

Ken, I've actually seen a couple of examples where owners of a 308GTS "converted" them to a GTB. Obviously it's not exactly the same, but aesthetically they're not too far off. Check with Andreas. |

With the amount of 308's made, I'm suprised we don't see that many around at all.. Targa or Coupe.. |

More in Europe than the US? Remember we like convertibles and targas with our steak and freedom fries... |

Why is it that the 308QV GTB is such a rare car? There were about 700 of them made, but I have only seen about a dozen of them. They have to be hiding somewhere. I tried to purchase one, but after 3 years of looking gave up and purchased a 308QV GTS instead. |
