Hey Guys,

Just received my FCA Prancing Horse magazine issue #140.

There on page 12 is an article on the Gray/Euro market cars.

Don,
I bought my 360 Euro 1 yr ago from •••• Fritz, Amerispec corp,Danbury,Ct.Pd 150k.They have come down to about 140k now mainly because of the very strong dollar which is starting to weaken.Fritz is an ok guy and they do a good job and they are legit BUT the communication is aweful and weeks can go by before a call back.
Don't believe there will be a problem selling however obviously euro's will bring less than US.
Other problems are the US computers at dealerships do not bring up euro stats and also FNA has a h-on for euro's.I probably would not go this route again even tho I love the car.Too much agita!

This is an e-mail I received through eBay, because of my call sign: IBuyFerrariCars

If you have any interest, I am in Houston and selling my 98 355 F1 yellow
and black spider. I have an 02 360 coming in Jan. My car is currently in
inventory at Ferrari of Houston, but I can also sell it since I consigned it
to them.

The car has about 9500 miles and is in perfect condition. I am also in the
investment management business with a major firm.

For reference the organization Exotics Cars Wholesale in Ft. Lauderdale has
put a bid in for my car(since I have used them in the past for transactions)
slightly above $130K. I think that establishes true whosale for a forced
sale. Its like getting a bid for a bond that the counterparty is willing to
execute.

I am not in a forced sale mode, and based on the current market am asking
146,500 for the car.Am very willing to discuss with qualified buyer.

No, sorry that is a US car. Needs the 15K service though.

There is an advertiser on this site Ameristar Capital Wholesale. He is a Euro importer.

As discussed a lot, I do not believe that you will have grave provblems selling a Euro in a few years. After all there is no warranty anymore to worry about. You saved lots of money in buying and can use that money for something else.

don, just remember that when you go to trade in in a few years you may have more difficulty in getting rid of a euro car. I guess the real question is a convertable or not - I own a 98 355 spider and luv it. My understanding is that a 360 is a great car so nothing bad about it. So if 2 main issues are price and convertable or not I would think that you might want the 355 - The 360 spider prices are rediculous ( unless bought new MSRP ) Algar in philadelphia has a 3 year wait for 360 spiders. Price for 6 speed 355 spider -nice one with low miles ( 5 K ) 97 or 98 going to cost you around 130 for a U.S. car --- 360 Modena probably about 170 - That 96 355 that martin was talking about im sure was a euro car ---- Leo try ferrari market letter too

Hi Leo,

I've the lowest I've seen was $139k. So I guess with a bit of legwork, the market keeps going down, you can hopefully fine a private seller that's willing to part with it.

Otherwise keep checking the following:

dupontregistery.com
ebay.com
autotrader.com
cars.com
carbuyer.com
yahoo classified

I'm also considering buying from a euro dealer and having them ship it here and convert it. But dont know of any reputable ones. so if anyone knows of a honest importer, please post it here!

Thanks

where are you going to find a 360 for 130?also, whats a good place to look. I would rather not buy from a dealer..prices are a bit inflated.

Hi Martin,

Can I ask how much you paid for your 99' 360? Also, if I buy a euro version, any recommended dealers?

I'm, hoping to get a 99 360 for around $130k.

Thanks

If you ask the question then you are not fixed on a convertible. If that is the case the 360 is an improvement in every way.Room, performance, even service costs since in the 360 the engine does not have to be pulled to change timing belts, the front R tire does not have to be removed to change the battery etc.
I had a '97 355 and now a '99 360 euro You can't go wrong either way.

My thought, since you asked, is get the 355 now and enjoy the heck out of it! It's an absolutely gorgeous car and how fun it would be to have a spyder for those weekend getaways. And, in a few years, when the 360 Spyders start to hit the used market, trade in the 355 on one. How can you go wrong? Either way, I'm very envious! Have fun!

I dont think you should wait a few years for a used 360 Spyder. You can order one from a dealership and you will be only paying MSRP. Not sure what the wait looks like though.

tough call.
The 1999 360 will have some flaws. First model year. Its an awesome car though. Much more room than the 355 or 348s.
Prices are still inflated on the 360 and the 355.

I was offered a 1996 355 Spider red/black with 11.5K Miles for $95,000 That sounds reasonable compared to the above $100K.

Go for the 360. Better than the 355 in every way I can think of. Faster, quicker, more comfortable, much better fit and finish, smoother, newer technology, etc etc. You wont be disappointed. Unless you REALLY want a spider...

If you really love the 360 spider you shold wait a few years till prices come down, it will definately be worth waiting for. As for your question, how much do you like convertibles? (probably alot bc you own one) 360's are bigger, more refined and confortable and they perform better than 355's. The 355 will also be cheaper, but not by too much. Just drive both and see which one gives you the biggest smile. Maybe some owners could help you decide.

Hi,

I've never owned a ferrari before, but am considering trading in my 996 Cab for one. The car would strictly be a weekend getaway tpe of car. I'm considering a 99 360 or a 97-98 F355 spyder. Any opinions on either one? Pro Cons, any warnings I should be aware of.

I wish I could afford a 360 spyder, but those prices are out of this world for me. I know servicing a ferrari is fairly expensive, but its not like you need to do it every 6 months, right? I don't plan to track it.

thanks
