The astronauts did go to the moon. Did you know that the lunar rover had too much over steer? It is up for grabs by the way. It's still in mint condition with low mileage. Free for the taking. All you have to do is go and get it.

Taek-Ho, sorry about the delayed response...I stepped away for 5 minutes and there was a deluge!

Anyways, that site cracks me up big time - music's a mix of Indian movie soundtracks (thought it sounded familiar!) and typical hip hop beats. It's by some rapper called Jay-Z and the song is Big Pimpin'. There's another similar-sounding song by Jay-Z and Punjabi MC. You can "sample" all this if you have KaZaa or Morpheus.

I am not really this hip--all the info is courtesy of my cousin, who should just drop out of college and become a professional rave attendee :-)

Faisal-ninja also!

This thread is actually boring.

No Phone numbers to call. No pictures to defraud.

At least the mondena thread was funny.

Hey Dan Jason,

Hadn't checked this thread for a while, cause it was getting a little predictable, although quite funny, what with all of you torturing poor Jason just cause he can't figure out his oversteer problem.
Chris is pissed, i think, cause i asked him to back off:-i think it was my weighing in on Dave's problems with his 550 and whether the manufacturer owed him a responsbility, warranty or no. Which in turn precipitated a couple snipes that sent the entire thread into the hallowed halls of flame and shame.
Chris- sorry if i come off to you like a . The rest of you:- thanks for the kind words. Not posting to provoke anything, but simply to acknowledge. OK, Chris?

Jason,

If you're interested in Ferraris, you could not have come to a better forum. Shrug off the kidding and stick with us. If you're ever in NC, let me know and I'll take you for a ride in a 348 and introduce you to a 288GTO, an F-40 and an Enzo.

I too have some experience with Mr. Hart offline. I had some questions that would have helped my business out and was completely in the dark about. He took time off to refer me to specialists in the matter that pointed me to the right direction. I didn't contact him after because I figured he was a busy man, but he shoots a follow up email to make sure if I got the answers I was looking for. Good man, that WHart.

Nevertheless he won't be a true gentleman until he gets a Porsche. :-)

Seriously though, looks like I owe you a brew and some grub too Mr. H!

I'll second that Ken. About a month ago I was thinking of a software project and Mr Hart chimed in and I contacted him offline at night and he proceeded to talk to me about different angles and laws that I would need to know b4 starting the project. I totally agree Mr. Hart is a class act all the way and if I ever get out to the east coast dinner and drinks are on me for him and his wife.

A little anecdote about Will Hart....

A few months ago I was in NYC for work and he invited me to come out to his house sometime to check out his 550B. Unfortunately I did not have a chance to ever get out there, but someday I hope to buy him a beer and thank him for his offer.

A few weeks ago, I call him up at work (out of the blue) and ask him to help me out with some copyright stuff I am working on. Now, he is busy NYC copyright guru, but we have a 45 minute conversation in which he can be heard shuffling around his office trying to find info to help me out. Talk about a great guy!!

I think he confused will h with Whart, I have caught myself doing that a few times but if I was going to blast someone I would make sure it was the right person. Nevertheless since he references other posts that Whart has made I feel compelled to voice my strong disagreement with his comments, I have found Whart's insights and comments very helpful and many times funny. He has always shown the willingness to help people out, myself included. He has never come accross as if he is on a high horse, could not be further from the truth. plus he is the splitting image of Jimmy page :-)

Chris, lighten up, man. Try some decaf.

First of all, Mr. Hart is nowhere on this thread. Why blast him here, dude?

Second, he has never been on any high horse in all the time I have read his posts here. He has a lot of experience, and is willing to share it. You should be thankful for that. You don't have to agree with his opinions, but at least respect his knowledge & experience.

There are a number of very busy, successful folks who take time ouf of their hectic days to post here, IN ORDER TO USE THEIR KNOWLEDGE TO HELP OTHERS. It is sad that you seem to have a problem with that.

And as for this that you posted: "get of the high horse man"-----perhaps you might take your own advice before putting it on others?

I read post on this site regularly and yes he does offer advice in a kind manner. I just do not appreciate that he feels his word is law, simply because he has owned and driven a few ferrari's in the past few years on top of being a lawyer. Advice of any kind is always helpful and usually appreicated by those on the receiving end, but come on, get of the high horse man.

Jason, if you are not a BS'er, it's probably because you are lifting off the gas in the corner in the F50. It needs you to keep on the throttle (sensibly) through the corner due to all the weight being in the back. Of course, you can also over-throttle in th ecorners, in which case you will also get oversteer. Bottom line: your driving skills are not yet up to driving the F50.

If you ARE a BS'er:

Mitch Alsup, I think you're seriously misleading the guy by recommending all those expensive suspension tweaks, and fiddling with the tire pressures. But you hit the nail on the head with your first observation. Any idiot can go slow in fast out - a real pro carries HUGE entry speed. And for a car that depends heavily on aero, as Mitch says, you need to be going fast enough for the aero to function properly, which calls for HUGE HUGE entry speed. That's the only way to keep the beast properly pinned down - the faster you go, the better the car works. Some people never learn how to drive a car with advanced aero features, you have to trust the car. Trust the car.

Dibs on the parts.

"I like the 360 alot better because the f50 has to much over steer."

You are obviously not driving fast enough for the underbody aerodynamics to kick in and save your ass.

"if anyone knows how i can fix that could u please tell me"

Sure, what you need is to completely change out the springs, shocks, and anti-roll bars; then lower the tire pressures. Maybe the factory put them in on the wrong end of the car, so try moving the fronts to the rears and vice versa. Then add about an inch to the rear ride height. Lower the rear tire pressures to about 23 PSI, and see what she will do in a fast (130+) MPH sweeper.

(see you in the hospital.....)

Met Art (owner of the F50GT) at the Greenwich Concours. He was there with his beautiful King Leapold spyder. (Pics on Kennys site) (Kenny should post them here as well) Art said the driver was simply going too fast on cold tires. The car is back a F SPA and will return soon as good as new. " Race cars get bent, you fix them."

The 5 F50 crashes I know about have all been due to oversteer...
EVO magazine - on a track in England (great writeup)
F50 GT crash - at Sears Point
Highway in Germany - very wet surface
Track in Texas - overcooked in a corner
Fiorano track - overeager new customer

It was always driver error, though-the F50 was supposed to be the sweetest handling until the Enzo came along. It's the 250s that are supposed to be a complete handful to drive.

Jason - what surface are you "driving" on? Hardwood or tile? When you get past the coffee table launches, put a book under a rug--it makes an excellent ramp!

IMHO no one who owns or has ever driven an F50 would ask such a question. They might complain that if you drive it in the rain the top leaks. People who are real ask real questions.

Dan,

If it looks like a duck. Acts like a duck. Quacks like a duck...it must be a duck.

Remember Jonas and his historical "modena" thread?

I dont notice any oversteer in my F50, but then again i've never driven it because i'm 18 times too big to fit in it.

I'm going with the majority on this one. This guy can't even capitalize i, or bother to spell out the word "you". I'm not saying those to [sic] things make him an idiot, but it certainly doesn't lend him any creditability.

"i am selling the F-50, butt keping the 360. i did not no it was soo terrable on gas"

DES, of course you may be right, but look at the evidence. He doesn't like the F 50 because of oversteer, like he bought the car from a used car lot, took it home, and discovered the handling was off? Wouldn't a real F 50 owner go to a dealer and have them check the alignment, toe and camber first? Wouldn't he talk a little about the car as far as how it's set now? And why even bring up the 360?

Okay, maybe there are really rich morons out there for whom an F 50 is like an old guitar and he's not sure how to tune the strings...but you have to admit it isn't likely this is that moron.

If it were for real, that would be a really unique way to post your very first thread.

Ok... Hypothetically speaking... What if Jason really does own an F50 and a 360... Then what...? Then he came here looking for advice and was chased away by a bunch of jokes...

i'm sure FNA doesn't give a crap if an owner or customer isn't using 100% correct English, 100% of the time... Wouldn't it be better to seek validation before casting assumptions...?

I fixed the steering problem on all my early right hand drive Ferraris rather easily. I sit on the left hand side, and steer with two broomhandles lashed to the steering wheel over on the right hand side. Unfortunately, it still requires somebody on the right hand side to operate the pedals. We share the shifting duties when somebody gets tired.

Yeah, I got sick of the F50 oversteer myself. Traded it straight across for the GT4.

Gas mileage is better too.
